After a weird discussion the other day I'd like to see on this board who knows the correct answer.

For the remainder of your life you could only eat one part of the chicken, what would it be?

-Breast
-Gizzard
-Leg
-Thigh
-Wing

FTR, you can eat other foods but if you wanted to eat chicken you would have to choose.

Breast. Dark meat is nasty and wings get annoying after a while.

Chicken breast with a good jerk spice and blackened is the best.

i go to gators for their grilled wings all the time.

big fan of thighs and breasts, whether its full breast or chicken strips.

Breast for sure. I think it is more versatile than the wings, which would be my second choice.

I'm surprised by all the wrong answers. The thigh is the most versatile. You can grill, bake and smoke it. Can't smoke breasts. Also has the most flavor.

Bingo. Not surprised how many people are flat out wrong, given this is the cooler after all.

Thighs have way more flavor, and far juicier. Especially smoked.

Love ya man but you sure as hell can smoke a breast. I do them on my Egg and then make some incredible pulled chicken out of them
The thigh gives you a much broader margin for error though. You can overlook it a bit and be ok. You can oversmoke it or have a bit of acridity from poor oxygen control and you’re ok because the thigh is a less delicate flavor on its own. There’s a reason all of the BBQ competition cooks make thighs.

OTOH, the ability to pound breasts out flat cannot be ignored. You can make cutlets for Katsu, schnitzel, any number of Italian dishes, roulades, and stuffed breasts like Kiev and Cordon Bleu. Breasts take marinades better for things like fajitas.

Not sure which way to go.

Does it come out moist or do you have to use lots of sauce to eat? Maybe I've done it wrong but there's just no fat in a breast to keep it moist. On the other hand, 4 hrs for some rubbed thighs tastes great hot or cold.

Buy a good probe thermometer and pull it at 160. Put a pan of water in to create a moist heat environment. But better than that, brine the breasts beforehand.

Yeah I brine it first and pull at 160 . Pulled it does need some sauce but I like to smoke it the night before , let it cool and then pull it . Refrigerate overnight and warm in an aluminum pan mixed with bbq sauce for tailgates and serve on a potato bun . Money .

But overall I agree with your assessment on smoking . Quarters are def the way to go with no sauce and thighs are doer versatile . Just another option

Breast. Thigh. Stick it in. Pull it. Rubbed. Moist.

This thread is so full of inuendo. Props to all contributors!

Thigh. Chicken breasts shouldn't even be on the list.

While we're on the topic, I've always heard people refer to wings as a dark meat, not a white meat. I saw a KFC ad recently that is pushing wings as white meat.

KFC is pushing rat meat as white meat

I used to be one who only ate breast meat when I fried/grilled/smoked chicken. Then I started marinating boneless chicken thighs and making sliders with them and it changed my mind bigly. A lot more flavor, in my opinion...

I absolutely love wings, however. I like grilling wings and tossing them in various sauces. Or deep frying them naked and saucing. I highly recommend that you all learn how to make your own hot sauce or BBQ sauces, if the latter is a flavor you prefer. It is extremely easy and a million times better than the shit you buy at the store that has a ton of useless ingredients in it.

While I'm not calling you a liar, Sweet Baby Ray's Sweet and Spicy is good enough for me not to want to make my own. Honey Chipotle is a close second.

I actually grabbed Publix non-breaded hot wings at lunch. I really can't think of any better wings anywhere else.

I do this as well! Pretty great and reasonably priced. Drench them in wing sauce and they get better! Bachelor dinner choice for me!

Got a new smoker over the weekend and tried some breasts. Didn't come out horrible. Pulled then at 160 and, while not perfect, where def edible. Did a chipotle rub and glazed with maple syrup. Didn't have time to brine but will try it next time. Did some thighs the same way and they were money.
