Interesting move, considering he and Gus are good friends. My thinking is that: a. He’ll have the opportunity to call plays there, and b. He’ll have a potential Heisman candidate in Drake Maye to help boost his resume to eventually become a HC again.

Milton said he has his own businesses to worry about right now. Gus doesn’t even know him anyway. He has his own friends to hook up with jobs.
Make him wear a green UCF hat and give out fake signals.
Malzahn could have brought on an SEC experienced RB coach Kevin Smith in 2021, he passed and Smith goes to Miami the next year for the same position.
Smith didn't want to take a sizeable pay cut to leave Ole Miss to join G5 UCF in the AAC.
It allows Gus to hire a friend for more than they are worth. Give a TE coach the added title of OC for more money. They don’t care they don’t call plays. Resume builder.
Chip Lindsey is a good coach it's just that Gus said when he came here that he wasn't giving up the role of calling the offense on game day because that is what led to his demise at Auburn. He's not alone with being a HC that calls the offensive plays on game day. Chip not surprisingly wasn't going to be here for long.
As far as Milton as QB coach is concerned it seemed apparent that his training from the QB coach that Frost brought in was excellent. He saw the field better than even some of the best pro QBs I've seen. This is what we need in the QB room, someone who can teach the QBs (like JRP) a system for reading defenses and Milton learned a good one from the QB coach that Frost brought in. Hey why not bring that guy back in or have him at least teach a seminar one weekend on his technique? He wrote a book on it...
