Cleveland Police will not hold US Flag at Browns Home Opener

Way to put their cause above their country and not do their job! You know how many people died for that flag?! /sarcasm

Too bad they can get any bum on the street to do that job and no one will give two shits. Great community relations move

Actually many do care up there which is why a local VFW Hall will not show.any Browns games on their TV.

When about a dozen Browns players' hero is a man who wore "Cops are pigs' socks", I probably wouldn't do anything outside my job requirement foe them either.

PS. Paramedics Union members are not participating in this event as well after being asked to.

So the cops are avoiding doing a show of patriotism (flag ceremony) in order to protest someone who avoided doing a show of patriotism (national anthem)?

Makes sense

Um no. They don't want to be holding the flag for a game in which assholes are kneeling in protest of that flag mere feet away, and kneeling in solidarity with an asshole that compared cops to slave catchers. Maybe that could be it. Yea, actually, that's exactly it.

All of this is going to make it somewhat enjoyable the day the NFL eventually collapses under the weight of billions of dollars in lawsuits from braindead players and their family members.

Whatever logic you need to use to justify your position. Makes a whole lot more sense to continue showing your patriotism and drowning out the anti flag protestors.

Holding the huge flag is a team directed activity. It's not at like something basic such as standing for the anthem and saluting the flag, which these cops will still do.

Your lame attempt to slander these cops by accusing them of something they aren't doing is sad

Just saying is makes a hell of a lot more sense to plaster that place in flags, than to take them away. But I forgot about how well logic and common sense go over in the cooler.

Have no issue with this, people will find different ways to voice their issues with the current state of the NFL.

You guys are butt hurt over nothing. These cops are not disrespecting the flag, they are simply choosing not to take part in the Browns organization spectacle by holding the massive flag and letting others do it.

I can still guarantee you that every cop there will be STANDING at attention during the anthem.

But yea yea- "cops sucks!". We get it

I don't think this is the right move. I'd send every available cop on the field every game all carrying the biggest US flags they can find.

Why ? The media would still highlight the assholes kneeling. Why would that matter?

The NFL can die in a fire

No one is going to know Cleveland PD is not out there. They would know they're out there when they send out every available cop and volunteer off duty carrying American flags or blue line US flags and the Browns would face hellfire if they tried to stop it from happening.

Will be interesting to see if other LEO hold the flag during the anthem. I would be shocked if others (Sheriffs or other cops from outside the city) did.

You realize they have jobs beyond holding flags for Asshole NFL organizations right?

However, a police spokeswoman noted that the union "does not speak" for the department. public information officer Jennifer Ciaccia told HuffPost. "The Division of Police is in no way boycotting the Browns," public information officer Jennifer Ciaccia told HuffPost, "nor denying participation in events with our officers."

Honestly though, I am just counting down the days until the NFL encounters problems they can't overcome. Viewership is slipping, people are increasingly turned off by the anti-American antics of their players, and the NFL itself is going to be sued into oblivion now that it's become obvious that the NFL knew of the effects of CTE for years and did little to nothing to address it. Meanwhile there is a small army of former players that are either demented or have already committed suicide due to CTE.

People are finding it easier and easier to do other things on Sundays. Me included. At most I tuned into for a few quarters of a Bucs game before doing something else.

dont these games get covered by alot of off duty police officers? the bulk is regular city police during a normal shift, but i think they fill in the rest with off duty guys from around the area to fill in the void. i think it would be great if they just stopped picking up those games in their off time to make extra cash. that would be a good showing.

While some might be getting off duty pay, probably majority would be on duty, as it would just be another "big event" in the city that needs coverage.
