The national sports show, Colin Cowherd, was saying what a coup this was for college football to dominate the entire Labor Day weekend in a month that has always been owned by the NFL.

What is Cowherd going to tell the world next? Water is wet?

NFL hasn't opened up a season on Labor Day Weekend since 2001...so College Football has dominated that weekend ever since.

What is the reason FSU is playing the citrus bowl? Is their stadium being worked on?

This game will be huge for the American conference if Houston can pull the upset:

Check out Hawaii travelling the first week. Friday night playing in Sidney Australia, then the next Saturday @Michigan. Hope they are collecting frequent flier miles! And, hope Hawaii softens up Michigan before UCF visits. (but doubt that).

I believe his point was how they put games on every single day to blanket the extended weekend.

It will be big for the Big 12. American conference not so much. Since O'Dreary left the cupboards bare we laid an egg last year and screwed our shot at P5. Somehow the asshat is getting a statue anyhow.

If Houston can beat Oklahoma, the American will have a big season again. The east may not be like it was last year due to new coaches across the board, so it all depends on Navy and Houston to carry the torch. That sucks that the TV deal isnt ending this year or the next. We need to cash in on our momentum. Navy's membership has really helped our conference.

I think Houston will give OU all they can handle. Let's hope they pull it off!!

UH's qb has added weight to 188 lbs, but most of their offense and all their fortunes depend on this highly exposed guy staying healthy another season. I can bet Stoop will have a scheme contain him and force him to a traditional dropback passer. This may not be pretty.

UCF #111
Alabama tops the preseason 1-128 NCAA Re-rank
The saddest part is that half the schools in the top 10 didn't change ranking at all!
A little bit of compelling trivia: in 2013, a terrible UF remained ranked until UCF started getting lots of votes. Then they fell out and we rose thereafter. Some of that must have been regional voting by Southern voters switching their favorite and non-Southerners who would only vote for a limited number of Southern schools.

App. state missed a field goal, extra point and another opportunity for a last second field goal was wasted when the QB let the clock run out. Those are the plays that lesser teams often do to blow an upset bid.

Uconn basically had our Furman game from last year right there, but found a way to pull it out.

Bobby Puyol hit a 37-yard field goal with 11 seconds left and UConn avoided a season-opening upset with a 24-21 win over Maine from the Football Championship Subdivision on Thursday night.

As part of their recruiting pitch, Hawaii is letting the players keep frequent flyer miles.

Do you guys like this type of thread? Should I do one each week of all the scheduled games? I kind of enjoy it as it keeps me up to date and see what's on quickly. #banweeklyfootballschedulethreads or #yeahweeklyfootballschedulethreads
