Holy shit that was fast. Kid is sprinting away from Gus's UCF and I can't blame him.
Oh please, "I gave up a lot to be here". Well I feel so indebted for his remarkable kindness. Clearly he was wronged by not being given the starting job. His pick six tonight was obvious evidence that he was an untapped talent that could have led us to multiple championships.
I'm not suggesting Gus didn't screw this up but it sounds like EJ attended a few sessions of the Thomas Castellanos Course for Portal Success." Based on what I saw tonight, he isn't ready to lead at the D1 level yet. Ego sure is a MFer.

Don't blame him one bit with the state of the program, but this is the obvious hole in the "just recruit high school and invest in their development" argument. He used the program to get his feet wet early in the college game, even got some playing time at 17 years old, and bolted immediately. Many will do the same so have to balance that with the portal.

Agree..he wasn't doing us any favors. Like KJ....he took the NIL $$$ and ran. No other reason to leave HS early. No way Gus misguided and sold him on being a starter as a true freshman.
Someone bump this thread up when EJ Colson helps a team win multiple National Championships in the future like he states. Thanks.
He may help Mt. Union or North Central Illinois win multiple.
He is too small to be out there right now but big picture Gus is a disaster at QB management. 4 QBs in a season without an injury, 3 QBs in last night’s game and waving off Rizk in disgust on national television then benching him the rest of the game.
I expect Rizk to leave too if our useless AD announces Gus is returning.

If Colson was still undecided on transferring, Gus' treatment of Rizk couldn't have helped. I've never been a fan of publicly berating players and I 'm fine with getting elevated at times to get a player's attention, but Gus' waving off Dylan shows he's completely disgusted with him as a player. Gus never did that with JRP, KJ or any other qb. The other players see that and know they could be next.

Rizk will probably transfer after Gus' behavior last night. If Gus isn't fired you just know he's going to get some 1-season QB from the portal that will be a bust like KJ. At this point I'm not even mad at any player that wants to transfer, it's completely understandable.
Somehow being a bad coach is not a valid cause for firing a coach.
I haven't looked it up yet but I will guess we are also down in Grades, and players developed for the NFL. Too many mercenaries not men built up by a solid program.
Ok so do we think there’s any possibility that this came about so fast because EJ is following Gus to FSU?
