Colton

Fans want him to succeed. I can only think he’s slightly injured because even his kickoff have been looking a little different. Or he has a bad case of the yipps
Kickers are a weird bunch. Once they lose their confidence…it’s extremely hard to get it back.

Hasn't been the same since that long run play he made. My guess is a confidence thing, but could have a dead leg late in the season.

On the payable Dungeon it has been reported his plant foot has been brothering him a few weeks now. My prediction he will heal and be at such perfect form that in 2024 that he will be a finalist Lou Groza award.

BTW, Matt Prater didn't win but was at the college football awards show for this prestigious award
It has to be that. Kid has too much leg to miss 18 yard xp’s. Hoping he is the next matt prater in the nfl after college

from daytona paper:

Malzahn said the coaches discussed replacing Boomer at halftime but chose to stick with the sophomore.

“We did talk about it, but Boomer has been really instrumental [for us],” said Malzahn. “He won the Boise State game and you can’t lose sight of that. Kicking is a lot like a golf swing, and for whatever reason you lose it. He’s lost a little bit of that, but that’s our job as coaches and my job to get him ready to go again because he’s an outstanding kicker.”

Boomer has connected on just 63% (12 of 19) of his field-goal attempts and 96% (46 of 48) on his extra-point kicks. He’s 1-for-4 on field goals over the last two games and 5-of-7 on extra points.

No, no, no guys. It's not his leg . He has been kissing too many moms. At Lake Mary the mom pool was only so big but here at UCF it's P5 level mom pool. The cougar action is just too hot right now and is a distraction. He will be fine . The pressure is off some now and he will recover I predict in the bowl.

The 2-3 weeks break before the bowl game should hopefully give him the opportunity to get his mechanics back right again and gain some confidence. The bowl game will be a big determining factor of next season’s potential for him, if he can gain that form back

If that is true why run him on that trick play

It probably when it happened on that trick play or chasing down the returner on the kickoff at Texas Tech (the one he got the penalty for the shoving out of bounds), prior to that there was no real problems with kicking, maybe missed 1 or 2 field goals thru 10 games. His second half of that game and beyond is when inconsistency happened.

Boomer looks weird when he kicks now. Like a little kid pitching and aiming the ball. Just kick it.

I was reading Gus’ lips after that missed kick and he was literally yelling at Boomer saying “kick the ****in ball!!!” Sucks that he lost his confidence, because he was amazing in the Boise and Oklahoma games. Gus didn’t help yesterday with his poor clock management, rushing everyone on the field with 10 seconds left on the play clock

I noticed this as well. It looks like he is "stabbing" at the ball and there is no real follow through after the kick. Very abrupt end vs a smooth follow through with the kick. Really sucks considering how he started and where he is now.

He better figure it out or grant reddick will take his job next season. Boomer has lost us at least two games and certainly didnt help us last night

I think Boomer needs to just get back to the basics. Personally, I think he let the pressure get to him. As a coach, they need to be able to help him focus on what is in front of him - tell him that he's made this same kick 25 time last week in practice. Ignore the crowd. Don't think about anything more than getting the kick off. Same goes for the fans too - we can't blame the kicker for not hitting a 55 yard kick when we blew a 28 point lead in the 4th quarter. Its not the kickers fault the other team scored 29 points in the last 15 minutes of the game.
