"We have a long way to go"

Can't be helped but I think we are in for another tough year. Hope I am wrong.

GOL always said the same thing when you are only a handful of practices into spring.

When learning anything sometimes it doesn't click until weeks later when you aren't actually doing it. They just need to get as many reps in now as possible. Let everything sink in over the next 3 months and pick it up again this summer. It probably won't all come together until the first conference game.

I did not mean to imply that we are behind where we expected or that I expected miracles. I am just hearing a lot of CYA. It is not unexpected.

We better get moving if we are going to upset Michigan.

Ok Mr. Positive. Appalachian State
bear them and Akron should have. They aren't exactly world beaters. Geez

9 years, two coaches, and two full roster changes have passed since App State beat Michigan. I understand the sentiment, but you might as well say that David beat Goliath because the idea that the Michigan team we'll play is anything like the one who lost to App state is ludicrous.

Yeah., you can say that. However, if you think that the UCF team in 2016 at anytime after the first game will be anything like that App state was. I can say is just as ludicrous.

Akron was just as bad if not worse and that was even more recent. Don't you ever watch NFL Blitz with Chris Berman "That's why you play the game." Yeah., upsets never happen. SMH

One constant theme I see is how happy the players are this spring and how they are all buying into the system. Seems like they have a renewed love of the game.

If you are working really hard, you shouldn't be happy.

2007, when App State Michigan was the beginning of the third year in a row they won the FCS title...in a row. Not saying teams can't beat Michigan. An 0-12 team running a completely new offense and new staff, playing against a 10-3 team with Harbuagh at the helm is going to destroy us....sorry. I've been to these types of games too many times in my life. It should be one of the bests away game experiences you can have, though. Big 10 football games are fun to go to (I've been to Penn State, Wisconsin, and Ohio State).

I would normally agree with you, but this is a little different. Normally 0-12 teams have been bad for a number of years. This team has a ton of talent. The new staff isn't learning a new system, they were brought in because they know the system. The old system didn't click with these kids last year, but they could pick up the new one nicely. And this new system is designed to be an equalizer to any competition. These fast pace offenses wear on defenses, especially big ones like at Michigan. Not saying we won't make mistakes as we will make a bunch. But don't be surprised if it is a close game. The question in my mind is if our defense can stop their offense.

I'm saving this. "Destroy" is such a strong word. "That's why you play the game".

And what, pray tell, is that?
I think FB is referring to what is basically arena league defense. The idea is you assume your offense is going to score buckets of points. The defenses role is to take risks to cause turnovers and 4th downs. If those risks result in quick scores, so be it. The defense's job is to get the offense possessions. The offense's job is to score more points per possession than the other offense.

Well with John O'Korn at QB for Michigan you never know. He can be really bad at times and we have a good history vs him (just a positive spin on the matchup).

coach speak from the beginning of time

Have you ever heard a coach say in spring practice "everything is good, no need for more practices Spring Break!"

Wow! I totally forgot about this. Guess we are going to have to wear the old uniforms to bring back haunted memories. Doubt he can start at Michigan though

From what I was reading he's the front runner going into spring. They are pretty young at QB (very talented at WR and TE).

Michigan's offense was nothing special last season, it was the physicality of their defense that broke opponents will

Hmmm. Sounds like a potential upset. L

This is a fact. We WILL be the team nobody wants to play. We are a total unknown. A bomb that could explode at any time. No ones knows. Not even us.

not saying we won't get blasted. It's just the way he builds his Program, similar to the good GOL years but w better talent & always being excellent at developing Quarterbacks. His teams physically impose the the body shots till the opponent gives, see the Gators Bowl game

Good point. I didn't realize O'Korn could be the guy there. Great Freshman campaign and then an odd sophomore year in which his passing stats like yds per pass where outstanding (>10yds per throw) but he was prone to turning the ball over so got dumped for Ward, who better fits their offense. Michigan has four 4-star QBs on their roster from 2014, 2015 and incoming 2016 (not including O'Korn). I think any of them could end up starting. I don't think it'll matter, though. I like our talent and look for good things in 2 seasons but I just don't see us taking a big leap like we did in 2005 because that was under the same coach in the same system. Michigan 40 UCF 17.
For what it is worth, Bleacher Report's "Week 4" synopsis on the Michigan QB situation indicated that O'Korn, Speight and Morris are all getting the majority of reps, with nobody really separating themselves yet.

It would just be nice to hear "I am pleasantly surprised at how the players are adapting". Just anything to shed some light,
