Xfinity internet @ $49
Netflix @ $10
Hulu @ $10
HBONow @ $15
Total - $84

Previously was
BH cable and internet @ $200
Netflix and Hulu

Saving $120ish per month and only real sacrifice was the extra sports channels. I'll AirPlay those from my laptop or phone.

Borrowing the inlaws DirectTv login basically made it a no brainer.

Isn't that like bragging that you no longer have to pay for groceries since your cousin at Publix hands you milk and bread out the back door?
pretty much every cord cutter i know relies on someone else's login for at least something - mainly Watch ESPN

My brighthouse bill with cable and Internet is only $140 which includes taxes. Not cutting to lose channels and save only $50 per month.

Verizon FIOS $107/month. Bright house used to kill me but then I started winning again by negotiating.

Watch ESPN and Disney were the only real need for a login. Once these two offer subscription services it's curtains for cable.

Why? You still need to pay for content. Just going to have different options but the cost isn't necessarily dropping unless you want a lot less options. Plus some channels that you like might not exist.

Meh, people 60+ are never going to cut the cord so we might as well reap the benefits.
I am 60. I cut the cord 3 or 4 years ago, before it became the in thing to do.. I have netflix, amazon prime, and over the air. So $18.00 per month and we are golden.

U young bucks are like so yesterday.

I'll never cut the cord - the opportunity cost alone, having two kids 6 and under, of having a TV remote is worth it's weight in gold. No way in hell would i ever switch services to change the channel - that's absurd. a 3 secind process in minutes. "oh - nothing's on" let me log into something else. Not worth a few dollars, IMO.

Don't worry, your kids will show you how to do it.

If you are going that route, all you need is internet. You can borrow their Netflix, Hulu and HBONow logins too (or from somebody else). Also run an extension cord to your neighbor's house so you don't pay for the electricity your TVs use.

and waddle, limp, drool, wear their pants by their boobs, and make all kinds of inappropriate noises in inappropriate places.

though some of us wear patched leather vest, and look tough on our bikes, before giving in and going to trikes then electric scooters. Old age sucks.

I pay $1,700 for cable/Internet per year. Considering the value of watching fs1, espn and all sister channels, cbs sports, MTV live, news channels, etc. I'm not giving all this up to save $500 for the entire year.

And you're not getting my espn account. ;)

I get by for $220. I will keep my $1500 thank you.

That's not really cord cutting, this is:

Before:
  • FIOS internet (75/75mbps) and cable for $200 x month on 2 tvs
Now:
  • FIOS internet (75/75mbps) $90
  • Mohu Leaf antenna (one time $65 purchase)
  • Sling $25 (with sports package)
  • Hulu $8
  • Total monthly bill: $123 x month ($77 monthly savings, $924 x year)
  • Service on every single tv in the house
I have Netflix but I can't include it in this cord cutting bundle because I've had Netflix for over 7 years and while I still had cable. It's just another bill. I can watch all the networks OTA (over the air), I can watch all ESPN content anywhere (Sling sign in works with the ESPN app) as well as cable channels like TNT, AMC, etc through Sling. So, not only did I cut the cord (over a year ago), but I am able to take my tv anywhere.

So, yeah, you didn't cut the cord.

Have you ever thought that you just watch too much tv?

People who watch tv and movies and claim it's a hobby crack me up. Go outside. Learn a new skill. Live life is my motto. [smoke]
