Daunte, 24K appearances this weekend

Just saw in the paper that there is a line of Sport equipment stores (Academy Sports) opening in the Central FL area, and Daunte and Kevin Smith are among the player appearances scheduled.

Sat 1-2:30, Daunte @ Waterford Lakes (11955 E Colonial Dr)
Sun 1-2:30, Daunte @ W. Melbourne (4285 Norfolk Pkwy)
Sun 1-2:30, 24k @ Waterford Lakes

Pretty cool for Academy Sports is teaming up with some UCF Greats (believe Academy Sports is already a sponsor of UCF Athletics).

Someone noted that the Waterford Lakes store has a lot of UCF and Orlando City Gear.

Today: 24k looked rock solid today (arms were about the size of some legs0...so glad he is back at UCF getting his degree and working inside the UCF football program.

I spoke with the manager at the Waterford Lakes location and yes, she wants to be THE off-campus store for UCF gear (had a lot of t-shirts, 3 different Antigua Golf Shirts reasonable priced...$48, $38 and $32) and yes, they should be fully, fully stocked come late July/early August for the football/new school year rush.

My wife pointed out the same thing (about how much UCF merch they had). Much of it seemed to be unique and priced right compared to similar gear at the bookstore. It's refreshing to see a store in the school's hometown actually give a hoot (I'm looking at you Dick's and Sports Authority). Yes, pretty good assortment of OCSC gear, as well.

Daunte and Kevin were awesome, great interactions with the fans, shook everyone's hand.

Daunte was very nice, accommodating and charming in providing autographs, pictures, and handshakes with my wife and I. Hadn't known that his daughter is about to start at UCF and he will therefore being hanging out in Orlando more. We had an interesting conversation with Kevin at Burger U after one of the games this year. We never met Blake, but he made a special trip to sign a jersey & shirt for our alumni event right before last year's draft. It's great when your biggest stars are also good people.
