Winter Park has named former UCF Hall of Famer Dee Brown as its new head baseball coach.
Brown, son of the late NFL All-Pro Jerome Brown, played baseball for four years (2002-05) and football for three at UCF. He was inducted into the Knights Hall of Fame in 2015 as the school’s career leader for base hits (298), RBI (229) and sacrifice flies (27).
He also played minor league professional baseball for six seasons, reaching the AA level.
Brown replaces Bob King, who retired last spring after coaching the Wildcats for 32 years.
Winter Park finished 12-13 last season, a year after a 24-6 district championship campaign.
