Is the official depth chart released when the games notes for the first game are released?

The following is one of a few current 2017 depth charts on-line now:

This one has a few immediate glaring issues at RB, Safety and QB position.
Thought 2-deep RB, QB and Safety spot was different but who knows...

Could be a lot for reasons not looking like you think they should: 1) They may not have anyone really watching our program, and are just using something from last year and extrapolating (which is what I think since they only show a 2-deep). 2) Incoming freshman probably wouldn't be listed.

It looks pretty realistic to me. What's a 'problem'?

Well problem #1 is they still have De La Haye on there so clearly not up to date...

Isn't anyone gonna comment about the number of freshmen in the second string? All we heard of last year was about the four or five frosh. This is Frost's first real class, and there's frosh galore in the mix. And unlike other coaches, the second string (except QB) are likely to see the field BEFORE the second half regardless of the score.

Yea this is all wrong. Trysten Hill was moved to nose a long time ago in spring. They still have Pittman listed there. Also showing Burgess still at safety.

So you're saying the 7 true frosh and 3 red-shirt frosh listed were on some old list from 5 years ago? Sure.

Didn't say it was a year ago old. Seems this came out as a projected depth chart sometime around spring practice.

Thanks. But how would they project guys who hadn't set foot on campus? And why doesn't it include Dinovo but does list Mack who wasn't here yet?

Easy. They projected the freshman based on hype, and depth at the position. Given Tristan's 6 game suspension, it makes sense they 3 freshman in the rotation at WR. As for Pete, in the Spring, if I remember correctly, he rotated or primarily practiced at WR. Or maybe they assumed he wasn't going to be in the two deep roster, given his failures.

I just see a lot of old info on this, and it looks like a projection more an actual depth chart.

Example of current OL status from 247 site and conversation with OL coach where Hudanick isn't being considered yet at guard position:
“We’re still trying Sam Jackson, Chavis, Tate, Jake Brown, those are really the top 4 guys, so we’ll see what those guard spots look like. Our comfort level is higher with all four of those guys this year than it was last year. But like I said, Sam has been good because he’s really stepped into that role and has done a good job.”

UCF is expected to release their initial depth chart on Friday. Frost did acknowledge some freshmen will be on it.
