Awesome. Not sure if this is new news but I was just online looking at why my bill went up again and bye bye ESPiN. I'm so glad I can finally cut off my money from that network.

ESPN is starting to get push back from cable operators to not include it in their base offering. This could get interesting quickly, because they could lose revenue from declining cable/satellite subscriptions AND possibly from not getting enough subscribers that are left to opt to add them.

They owe a lot of people money (college conferences, bowls, NBA, NFL, etc). I would think that Disney would spin them off, so they can threaten bankruptcy to force renegotiation of those contracts.

Old news. Just look at the packages in Spanish, they are usually cheaper (because they don't include ESPN) and include all the channels you want to watch.

Their programming sucks ass. NBCSN is all I need to catch EPL. Fox carries MLS

The football bubble has burst for me. I let go of ESPiN and the American football machine a year ago and don't miss it a bit

finding out Jemelle Hill got the 6pm SC slot was the last straw

LOL! I knew ESPN had jumped the shark when they were promoting the new 6pm SportsCenter with this tag:

Sports
Movies
Music
and more..

Wow!!! E Channel takeover of ESPN is now complete.

ESPN use to be the only sports outlet now you can find anything you want on the internet or through a subscription. SportsCenter use to be awesome but now it just drama filled with cheese ball jokes especially this time of the year.

I really wish FS1 would just create an old sports center equivalent. They could air it at the same times. I miss the highlights and box scores with news thrown in.

Sadly, the days of tuning into late night or early am SportsCenter to see who won the important games and their highlights are long gone...as virtually every pro or college game is now on TV...plus, with internet/mobile access...scores are instantaneous...so now 90% or more of the viewers already know who won the games and probably already seen highlights from said games on their laptops, tablets or phones.

The reason the sportscenter format changed is because it has become an advertisement for future content. It's no longer about what happened, unless what happened helps sell the next ESPN broadcast. This includes future SC episodes.

For example, how many times have you seen this format: "Let's go to the highlights of State vs Tech, where Tech's Jones is making a push for award X" [insert highlights] "Tune into SC @11 for an interview with Jones" or "Watch Tech and Jones on ESPN this weekend"

I get that the scores and highlights are easily available. I believe there is still a market for the old sports center format. Im not a baseball fan, but I would perfer watching highlights and given some box scores from yesterdays games over the crap they have on there now. They dont even talk about the actual games anymore.

MLB networks show called "Quick Pitch" is on every morning during the MLB season and is awesome for next day highlights.

And also hearing Kenny Maynes horrible jokes every 30 seconds.

Ever since ESPNews went live, SportsCenter on ESPN has sucked. They assumed if you want strictly sports news, you'd turn to ESPNews and get it there, whereas they then thought they had more creative freedom to do fluff pieces and debate shows on ESPN. I don't think I've willfully watched SC in about 5 years.

College Athletics is the only strong hold they have. The majority of major pro sports is not shown on ESPN.
