Geo-engineering is a recipe for disaster. This is someone who has a god-complex wanting to prove they can control something that should be beyond our control.

I have *really* mixed feelings on this.

On one hand, I don't think humanity survives long term if we can't fix our global-scale screw ups. Kind of like part of the Great Filter theory on civilizations become inter-planetary. There might exist certain threats - from nuclear annihilation, nano-particles, AI - or destroying your planets ecosystem - that ultimately stops 99.99% of intelligent life from surviving long enough to reach the stars.

I tend to think that harnessing renewable energy at scale is the key - rather than destroying the planet and throwing up bandaids like this. But maybe those Band-Aids are necessary to keep us things kicking long enough to truly harness energy.

But then again our attempts to save ourselves could be the filter that kills us. So yea.
