I hear so many on here talking about David Kelly the recruiter and how amazing he was. Ya know what? He is the reason why we are in this mess!! The last 4 years we have lost more and more scholarship players on our roster because of our recruiting sanctions.

Why don't we have many seniors on the field? Why don't we have juniors breaking through the roster in critical positions of need? Why can't we red-shirt our linemen to let them bulk up? Thanks David Kelly! The NCAA hurt us and we didn't feel it until this year. 4 years of scholarship reductions.

Now I want to address this myth about David "The Amazing Recruiter" Kelly.

The basic point of the post is that there is plenty of local talent to field a great team and we arent recruiting it. (Or landing it). David Kelly used to recruit Florida decent. Since then it has been spotty and look at us now. I don't think this is even debatable.

YES, it is debatable. Do you have a clue what you are talking about? If you check Kelly's recruiting out you will notice that he did NOT recruit FL very well. Here are the last 4 years that he spent at UCF. I am comparing FL recruits to "other" states that Kelly got commits from.
2008: ZERO Florida recruits and 2 other states
2009: 6 FL and 4 Other
2010: 9 FL and 5 Other
2011: 2 FL and 10 Other
Total: 17 FL and 21 from other states!! Way to represent the state of Florida!! Would you be ok with a roster made up of 45% Florida players?

A great recruiter at "our" level is going to be a David Kelly type: Good with the parents, good with the kids, delivered a strong message. Eye for talent, etc.

We've already seen what great P5 recruiters like Lance did at UCF - i.e. nothing.

Stop thinking and idolizing David Kelly! He wasn't a great recruiter (as I have mentioned on the open board). He killed our program with sanctions. Bottom Line: David Kelly got us into a huge recruiting mess! He doesn't recruit FL as well as we think (less than 45%). 50% of his players had ZERO impact at UCF.
