I was taken off guard by the Alumni Association asking for ideas for a "Spirit Symbol" I'm not sure what that is. My UCFriend years ago mentioned to me that if UCF ever did a hand symbol it should be the Sign Language symbol for "K" for Knights. It's simple. Easily could be mistaken for a peace sign that would help us weed out t-shirt bandwagoners. I'm not sure if we need one.

Haha I've given thought to this same topic the past few years. I looked for hand symbols for Knights including sign language but didn't find anything great. My feeling on it is that it's going to have to be organic if we ever do adopt one.

100% agree. Something from the players not the alumni.

Not in reference to a Spirit Symbol, but really like the tradition that has taken hold at kickoffs when the fans yell UCF Knights. It really resonates in visitor stadiums. It can be difficult to get traditional stuff to take off. Now you have me thinking of the PATCH.

The Patch was exactly what came to mind when I saw the communication.

I tend to flash the peace symbol in lieu of a wave whenever I greet people from a distance. I love the symbol and had no idea it was also the letter “K” in sign language.
I think this would be a super cool hand gesture (spirit symbol) for ”K”night fans to adopt, especially since it was used by the late great Otis Anderson (#2) and then used in tribute at the Gasparilla Bowl by Ryan O’Keefe. That was a super iconic moment that sent chills down my spine when I watched it happen.
I absolutely love it. How do we make this official? I’m sure our crack marketing team can make this spread across Knight Nation if it’s adopted as our ”spirit symbol”.

The "K" is close to the peace sign. The middle finger kicks out and the thumb is between the index and middle finger. Love the enthusiasm and connection to Otis Anderson.

The Peace sign being ours because a player did it is kind of like us thinking Zombie Nation is our song and everyone else just copied it. Peace sign has been used for a long time. Tyreke Hill did it at least 5 years ago and got fined for it. He offered free gloves for any college football player to do it and send him proof. Possibly when Otis started doing it.

K sign, and when the opposing team is doing good, turn it around and it's the British middle finger.

In Wales, a lady went ballistic that I had my phone on the steering wheel. She drover around me, literally, curing me in Welsh. Then gave me a peace sign and sped away.

Only I didn't know at the time that peace sign with the back of the hand facing was the British middle finger. I was laughing so hard at what I thought was the peace sign.

What matters is hardware.....period. Honestly, everything else is noise. These are "ours", though: 1) We yell "U-C-F Knights" on kickoffs. 2) We say "Knights" during the National anthem. 3) We do "Stomp, stomp, clap, clap, whoosh....UCF (and the student sections yells "Ballin if the player makes them all)" during basketball games. Those are organic.. I don't go to any other sports so if there is something else, add it to the list

I'll gladly wear UCF gear and not worry about putting my hands up in some stupid symbol (shout out to White Zombie....Real Solution #9: "Yeah, I remember her saying, 'I'm already dead.' ...Well today I want you each to stand up and hold your hands in some stupid symbol... You're gonna get up and scream...You're gonna get up and burn an X in your head.")"

I DO believe something should eventually supplant KerKraft 400 though...It's not unique to UCF in the slightest and is played everywhere...every....stadium.

That White Stripes song "7 Nation Army" makes me want to stab my ears with a pencil like on the cover of the Butthole Surfers "Electriclarryland" album.
