DeWayne Peevy has been rumored to be a finalist for the AD position. Let's take a look at where he's been and what he's done.
He's currently the Deputy AD under Mitch Barnhart at Kentucky, a position he's held for over two years.
Prior Deputy or Associate AD's from UK under Barnhart include the sitting ADs at Oregon, Arizona, Mississippi State, and Syracuse.
He's been at Kentucky since 2008, mostly in media relations and as a spokesman for the department.
Prior to being at UK, he was a media relations guy with the SEC.
He's been profiled in the press as "Cal's Twitter Guy" http://www.wildcatworld.com/2011/08/02/dewayne-peevy-is-john-caliparis-twitter-guy/
Hard to find much on him at all, but he did once bar the UK student newspaper from a media event (for which he got admonished by the AP) and threatened on Twitter to pull CBS Sports writer Gary Parrish's credential for writing a negative piece on Anthony Davis' recruitment. http://www.kentucky.com/2011/08/30/1862265/uk-athletics-student-newspaper.html http://media.kentucky.com/smedia/2011/08/30/21/13/8IvNV.So.79.pdf
His official UK bio is rather short on details of his accomplishments (especially absent is anything to do with fundraising or football). http://m.ukathletics.com/sport/m-baskbl/2015/roster/559d98a0e4b01c7eefd64329
And boy, is he good at spending money: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/2015/01/15/kentuckys-bahamas-trip-came-at-hefty-cost/21810719/
UK not only paid for a $1500/night suite for Calipari, they paid for all of their opponents' accommodations at a Bahamas tour last summer. UK also racks up the costs on private jet charter flights, spending nearly $500k on them in a given year. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaab/2014/07/26/kentucky-basketball-coaches-recruits/13222741/
In summary, the guy is a glorified SID at a major program, and Calipari's personal secretary. I'm not sure he knows how to lead a fundraising campaign or manage a sport besides basketball. He certainly doesn't seem to be involved in building a program, especially one that has been struggling to gain recognition and grow from a young fanbase.
I have a hard time believing he will succeed at UCF.
