Dom Dwyer is back!!!!!

Glad to have him back in purple! I think we gave up too much for him, but we had to make a move. Our team has forgotten how to score goals. Hopefully this will get us going in the right direction.

there are also some rumors out there that we might not be done and could acquire another player.

City needs to start scoring goals, maybe this will help since he has looked decent lately. Everything in the attacking third seems to go through Larin, and if he plays bad, theres almost no finishing chances.

Zlatko Junuzovic?

I think we paid too much. $650k is the money we got from the Kevin Molino Trade. We'll also get $650k in Allocation money if/when Larin goes to Europe. So it's equivalent to Molino/Larin for Dwyer. Seems steep.

Whats your reddit name? mines pretty easy to figure out.

Apparently some of the money will be going to SKC next year when it is rumored TAM jumps even more. So we used the Molino funds as well as what we havent used this year. That said, Dom is now an American so we still have an INT spot available. We would still need to move someone to make room for Zlatko. We might have a little TAM/GAM to buy down Barnes' DP spot. We shall see if we make another move.

After this season, we will be very busy. Kaka will likely be gone and we will see if we finally sell Larin or make him a DP.

Ffroman. I don't post, just a lurker. I've seen your posts though.

There's a lot of moving pieces so it's tough to nail down. I wish there was a breakdown of how much allocation money each team has. I don't know whether we have anymore, but as you mention, it's a necessity to bring in Zlatko.

One interesting thing I read related to Larin I haven't seen elsewhere:
Usage of Revenue
The club's share of transfer or loan fee revenue may only be used as follows:

  • The club may assign up to $650,000 of the transfer/loan revenue as General Allocation Money. (In the case of Designated Players, such assignment of Allocation Money can only take place after the club has received 100% of their out-of-pocket investment)
  • The remaining balance of the club's share (if any), and which cannot be traded, will be available to be used by clubs in the following ways:
    • Against the expenses incurred by the club in relation to the costs of an existing or new Designated Player
    • With league approval, clubs can use the revenue against an expense that would (i) would not otherwise have been incurred by the club; and (ii) reasonably represents an investment in the league or club (e.g., youth development and training facilities).
Basically, we'll get $650k for the transfer of Larin AND can use any excess above that amount towards the expenses of bringing in a DP, i.e. reducing the transfer cost of Zlatko. Since we can't trade Allocation money based on an assumption, we'll have the $650k to use for future roster moves.

Larin is not going to Europe unless he finds a team where he can stand there and wait to head the ball in. He doesn't have the skills with the ball

Close. He doesn't have the tactical awareness to evade or beat defenders except when he can muscle them off.

Correct.

The issue I have with the team this year is there is NO movement off the ball. They all wait for the game to come to them and then always overthink things.

Oh, KaKa needs to go after this year too.

Larin can't find his own shot, Dwyer can. I don't think we gave up too much, I think the move makes sense for both teams and it sets a good precedent for the league as well.

Doesn't have to be Europe. Any transfer fee over 975k gets OC the max allocation money. But that has to occur at the end of this season. If it's during this season, the transfer fee has to be 1.3 million to get OC the max allocation money.

I agree, I fail to see spending that kind of money for him. However, he is 22 and a strong finisher. Having a player that finishes nearly every ball he touches in the box is valuable. A team may take him to see if they can develop the other skills.

The current rumor is Besiktas is coming on strong for Larin.

Supposedly there's 3 offers on the table, according to ESPN FC. A mid-season move means the team will only get 50% of the fee so it would have to be significant for the team to get max Allocation money and have enough left over to make a dent into the Zlatko transfer fee.

It's ridiculous to say it's Kaka but his departure really will help us. Without him we work the corners really well and our team flows better. When he keeps it on the ground and facilitates it really just creates a ton of turnovers because we don't have many players that can handle his ground game. We use his salary to find a true CAM and we are golden.
