Dontay Mayfield Plans on Honoring His Commitment to Central Florida

This was my favorite quote from that article:

"It doesn't affect my commitment, not really. I have a plan, and I've been recruiting guys to come with me to UCF to turn the program around. If I can get the guys I need, I promise I can turn the program around."

This guy screams leadership. He has a real chance to come in at UCF and lead this team to great things. Seems like "Mr. UCF" Brandon Marshall II

If he gets 2 kids to commit, he'll be our top recruiter.

According at his offers he would benefit most if the Knights hired a Dino Babers from Bowling Green, Scott Sattersfield from Appy St (if interested) , Terry Bowden from Akron (a long shot and unpopular choice amongst the fanbase apparently) or Rick Stockstill from MTSU (not sure its worth leaving a G5 school to another).

Stockstill just got a raise to $700,000 at his now CUSA school (MTSU, long time Sunbelt program, moved up to CUSA when everyone left that conf)...if he ever had a chance to double/triple his salary by moving up to a higher profile school/conf he would take it...but not sure he will be on UCF's radar for this search.

What? How did this Florida recruit get in? We don't recruit Florida!

Wait i thought we have no money!

I haven't thought about recruiting in months bc it's been so bleak. Here is to turning things around. :cheers2:

More $$ available than MTSU.

UCF could save money by hiring a cheaper/less experienced candidate and maybe have more $$ for assistants (believe UCF was 6th in AAC Asst Salary Pool), or...UCF pays more $$ to an experienced HC Candidate (like a Greg Schiano) but might end up having less $$$ available for Assistants.

We also have more money than Miami, according to one the those articles saying UCF may be a better job.

Incorrect.

Miami has money ($20 Million plus from ACC TV Deal and bowl share) but the Univ President has never really wanted to spend much of it on their football program. (Golden was earning $2.52 Million per year...while Miami Asst Coaches were paid more than UCF Asst Coaches).

Miami also has more deep pocket donors (which not in great numbers) than UCF.

Miami spends approx $30 Million in football program expenses.

UCF spends approx $19.5 Million in football program expenses.

Now, while most know Miami has more $$$, even with that advantage, many in the college football field are still saying UCF would be a better HC job in the long run.
