Scott Frost has been busy working the phones in his first full day on the job. Jaquarius Bargnare, the standout wide receiver at Orlando (Fla.) Dr. Phillips, got a call from the new UCF coach shortly before 8 p.m. on Thursday night.

"He called me out of the blue," Bargnare said. "I didn't expect it to happen so fast. He's bringing the Oregon offense to UCF. He says it's perfect for what I am as player. It's a major jump from the offense they had. Frost said they'd like to get the ball in my hands and make plays. Do the things Oregon did. It was a great talk."

Frost told him had just finished watching his film.

"He said he liked me a lot as a player," Bargnare said. "Things I really loved hearing. He said he'd put the ball in my hands and let me make plays. Bubble screens, little routes, basically everything I'm doing right now. 'Come to UCF and make plays,' is what he said. He thinks I'd be perfect for that."

The 5-foot-9 speedster was offered by UCF in September and has been in limbo as the staff went through the transition.

"Being local, Coach Frost told me he wants me to come see him next week so I'm going to do that," Bargnare said. "An official visit next month maybe."

UCF hadn't resonated much with local recruits in recent years, but Bargnare thinks that's about to change.

"I think it will change everything," Bargnare said. "You can't overlook an Oregon coach. He was the offensive coordinator over there. Everyone has seen what Oregon has done and he's bringing that to UCF. He's going to recruit hard in the area. That's going to change how people look at UCF."

Bargnare is in the process of setting up visits. The only one he knows for sure is Vanderbilt, which will be either Jan. 15 or 22.

"I have schools that talk to me daily like Vanderbilt, South Florida, Memphis, Colorado State. No favorites right now."

UCF is definitely rising in his mind though.

"Frost coming over from Oregon makes me like UCF a lot more," Bargnare said. "It's a major jump for me. I love offenses that basically do the spread. That Oregon uptempo offense, get the ball in the wide receivers' hands and let them make plays. That makes me think more highly of UCF."
