Dumb Ticket Sales Questions

I’ve been a season ticket holder and GKC donor since 2007 and decided to upgrade/move my seats in BHNS this year- however it feels like my account executive is jerking me around a bit. These “dumb questions” aren’t likely to help me, but the situation certainly got me thinking about how UCF processes work and I didn’t see anything online. Anyone have any insight they would like to share to satisfy my curiosity?

  • Every year I’ve been paying my $50 per seat deposit on my tickets without thought- but other than new season ticket holders, what’s the point? It’s a refundable deposit correct? If we have until the end of APR (or whatever the deadline) to renew and receive our guaranteed seats- So why are we paying a $50/seat deposit in DEC? If it is a non-refundable deposit, they why would we ever pay it? (though I always have)

  • To be placed into the “priority relocation queue” to move my seats, I am told I have to repurchase the 2016 season tickets first- What’s the point of buying up seats that are just going to be moved?

  • Do I have to also renew my donation level/parking pass as well just be placed into the “priority relocation queue” or just my seats? (still awaiting a response from my Account Exec on that one)

  • I’ve been told that I will get a call for priority relocation of my seats “a week or two” after the renewal deadline- So if a brand new donor/new season ticket holder for 2016 calls in during those weeks, Is UCF really going to turn away new donors/season ticket holders while they call me and the other GKC members in the “priority relocation queue”?

  • Assuming UCF isn’t going to turn away new donors/season ticket holders, If there is some kind of restriction on new season ticket holders selections after the renewal deadline has passed? What is it? What tickets can they chose from?

  • If there are no restrictions on where to put new donors/ticket holders, then what is really the difference between priority relocation, regular relocation, and new donor/ticket holders…sounds like new ticket holders can just call in whenever after the deadline (and I may try that). I’ve read online they are going to assign times/dates for priority relocation- but my account exec said they are just going to call me. Doesn’t sound like they are holding slots.

  • Why can’t I just chose from what is currently open/available assuming every single person season ticket holder renews?

  • Assuming I’m being told I can’t take what’s open now because there are other GKC members who want to move as well and they rank it by points…..Then why did my account exec call me with the option to move to section 227? If UCF is going to start presenting me options before the relocation times, give me all the options rather than a quick “take it or leave it”? (Side note- I declined because there were better seats available in non-donor sections: one of the secondary reasons I feel my account exec is jerking me around)

  • Is there any way to see what seats are available to choose from? How do I really know what options are available? I’m under the impression my account exec isn’t really looking for my best interest with respect to seats as he would rather hold the better ones to entice sales elsewhere.

I'd say relax. You'll end up getting tickets in the section you want. They have a system in place and I'm sure they know how to use it. But to answer your first couple questions: the $50 is a free loan to the GCK and yes you'll likely have to pay the donation as well as paying for the old tickets while you get in line waiting for the new ones to open.

Who is your ticket rep? I am not to happy with mine. I was curious if it was the same. Is there a formal way to get a new ticket rep?

My ticket rep is Jordan Lyda- If you are looking to make a change we can chat offline about some of the issues I've had with him specifically. I'd prefer not to bash him in a public forum.

I'm not sure if there is a formal process for requesting a new rep or not (or who to run that through)- but there is contact information for other account reps (and their bosses) online if you wanted to try to go down that path. I'm currently chatting with my buddy who has a different rep and is moving his seats as well this year. If there is a major delta between the seats we are offered I'll run my request through his account exec instead.

If you do make a change, let me know how that works for you.

I recently indicated to my ticket laison that I need my GKC lowered down to what it should be, since I have been paying above what is required for years. They don't seem to have any issue with regards to that. I would note that the amount you pay for parking is generally more than what is required by the GKC. That is to say my GKC fee is $150 for my seats in section 127 but it is a minimum of $350 for where we have parked and tailgated since BHNS opened. So effectively the GKC is really $350. It's a product/service and they are in business to make money. Just be a savvy buyer and protect your interests, and understand the "rules" so you can better play the game. Don't be afraid to ask or request stuff. All they can do is say no.

Pretty sure we had him too and got a new rep no problem. Just ask the ticket manager and they should be able to accommodate you.

Thanks for the information. I have jordan as well and was not happy with a few situations that arose last year. I will have to call ticket manager and see what they can do.
