Stuff to chew on till our next game (Tuesday Night CFE Arena)
UCF has more offensive scorers on the floor (even with the loss of BJ), plus new rules that speed of play, stricter rules on defenders in the lane, etc..scoring is up.
Last season, UCF opened up the year with 6 straight home games (5-1), and 7 out of their first 9 (6-3).
This year, UCF had 3 road games in their first 5 games (2-3), and 4 out of their first 9 (5-4).
First 9 games points per game:
Last year: 66.1 pts
This year: 76.2 pts
Opposition points per game:
Last year: 69.4 pts
This year: 70.1 pts
Other stats for first 9 games vs last year as a whole (included obviously all conf games)
UCF FT%
All of last year: 64.3% (19.2 attempts per game)
This year: 71.2% (21.2 attempts per game).
Last year, Adonys lead UCF in FT % (at least 25 attempts for the season) at 78.6%
This year, AJ is shooting 34-40, 85%, McBride is 10-12, 83%, Chance is 16-20%, 80%, Walker is 1-14, 79%...plus others with a few attempts: Tanks 7-9, 78%, Matt 7-8, 87.5% while Adonys is slowly improving after a very slow start, 18-25, 72%
Main reason why UCF's overall FT% isn't higher: Blair 6-15, 40% (another reason for his lack of PT), Tacko 10-20, 50%, and Shaheed Davis 17-28, 61%).
Good news is that players like AJ are getting to the line a lot and converting (need to get Chance more attempts at the line...but he has to play well to be on the floor to do just that).
