Eliminated Teams List

That article is so stupid it is laughable. No G5 has any shot at playoff other than Boise who is a long shot. To have Buffalo for an example is just plain stupid. That is not a knock on Buffalo, just they can run the table, they won't get in before a 1 loss Ala, Oh State, AU, ect.

If the Big 12 was shut out last year, no friggin way Boise even has a shot at the playoffs. No G5 team will ever have a spot, which is why GOL doing everything he can to screw our P5 invite is such a horrible thing right now.

The Seminoles' first impression of Notre Dame transfer QB Everett Golson was a positive one, as he completed 19 of 25 passes for 302 yards with a career-high four touchdowns and no interceptions in a 59-16 rout of Texas State. He'll get another tune-up against South Florida on Saturday.

lolololololol

Come on, seriously? We have never have had a legit shot at the MNC. That's why it's called the mythical national championship.

Its amazing how they got rid of the BCS as it was super biased but now here we are with an even more biased system.

A G5 team can make the Playoffs. But the only way it could happen is to:

1) Every Non-Conference game scheduled must be road games against P5 Top 25 teams.
2) The G5 must run the table against the teams in #1.
3) Run the table in conference.

Do that and the G5 team would at least merit consideration.

That said, I hope you guys get a P5 invite from the Big 12. My hunch tells me it is just a matter of time before the Big 12 expands because as of right now they don't have a Conference Championship game and that hurt them in the 2014 Playoff.

But therein lies the catch-22 of the system. If a G5 beats a P5 team, then that P5 team is not a top P5 team.
Yeah but let's say the G5 team schedules an Oklahoma on the road. Let's say the G5 team pulls the upset. Then let's say Oklahoma then goes 9-0 or 8-1 in the Big 12. Then the G5 team would be given a ton of credit for the Road win. See what I am saying? The G5 team has to schedule big and win those games to make up for the fact that they aren't getting elite wins in conference.

See, the AAC isn't a bad conference. There are some good teams in there. There just aren't any Top 10 teams and only a couple are even Top 25 caliber. So there is no proving ground in conference. Hence, you have to schedule big non-conference. And then win those games. It is a long shot but Boise proved it can be done. Where Boise screwed up was it only scheduled 1 or 2 of those games. You need to fill every Non-Conference slot with one of those games.

I mean, if you look at it that's how Bobby Bowden helped FSU climb the ladder. He scheduled big and went on the road and beat those big name programs.

It sounds possible, but here's what they'd say about that game when it comes time to workout the playoff spots:
1) That was early on in the season, if Oklahoma played them now, it would be different
2) Player X (no matter how insignificant in reality) was the key to Oklahoma and he was suspended/injured/not playing well that game.

There are no computer models, there is no objective data... there are 13 people, in a closed room, who all represent P5 schools and conferences. Not formally, active ADs, whose budgets are tied to their conferences making the playoffs and big bowl games.

This is not the 1980s... even the great bobby bowden couldn't "climb the ladder" in this day in age. CFB is big business and those with a seat at the table don't care to share more than a crumb (access bowl slot)

You may be right. But here is the thing: we'll find out. Because now that Strength of Schedule is coming into play more then that means P5 games vs FCS schools will be a thing of the past. So other than the games P5 teams play vs other P5 teams, the remaining slots will be filled with FBS programs in the G5 rather than FCS schools. Look at this weekend. Two teams from your conference play two ACC teams. Houston plays Louisville on the road and South Florida plays us on the road. And those aren't bad matchups. I'd much rather see us play USF than an FCS team.

I'm just saying I don't think you'll have a problem getting the P5 teams to schedule you anymore because of strength of schedule. So now you have to focus on winning those games and seeing where the chips fall.

Nole...we appreciate your support! There is one other difficulty with your suggestion of playing P5 for EVERY OOC game.
A team like UCF would only end up with four or five home games per year. Few P5 teams seem willing to come to Orlando and four home games per year is just not acceptable.

Yeah that is a dilemma. There are some P5 teams that will do it with G5 teams. Our series with USF is a Home and Home. And also we scheduled a Home and Home with Boise State for 2019 and 2020.
