If you are a supporter of the LGBT community worried about conservative judges pushing back the clock, the use of "sexual preference" versus "sexual orientation" is a giant red flag.
For the record, Barrett said she misspoke.
Apparently, as of 2018, she asks that of every candidate for confirmation. I'm sure that the fine people of Hawaii are perfectly happy with the preparation that she's putting into these hearings.

Its embarrassing to ask anyone, let alone a woman, if they've been accused of rape.
Doesn’t everyone have a sexual preference? It seems a dumb thing to get angry over. I prefer to cry after sex and apologize profusely, but maybe that’s my orientation as well. Who knows?
