Entertaining update about UCF student who tracks Elon Musk's jet

Remember those annoying jobs you took or the stuff you had to do to 'look good on the resume'? Now we have morons actively working to make themselves unemployable. Here's hoping the twitter account can make him enough to live on, because would you like to employ this boob? The first time you correct him/reprimand him/refuse to give a promotion or raise, then some anonymous crap website comes up like this. Some day people will realize that companies check social media. There always were Stifler's, but at least decades ago they have the advantage of not showing the entire world how stupid they are on social media. As for the security risk of the twitter account- zero. Any nut willing to shoot Musk would be able to do the same thing he did.

(Stilfer is from American Pie if you're too young).

I don't understand the mentality that this young person should watch themselves in their interactions with the rich and famous. The world today is very different than it was even a few years ago. Startup tech companies are going to like this guy's balls and he'll fit great with their culture. Which is generally like UCFs culture. He's making a little bit of a gamble but it will pay off.

And why is he tracking him? Sounds like a complete waste of time. He should have taken that $5k from Elon and gone on to harass someone else for a while.

Because people care I guess. People tracked Nebraska planes to Philly when they had Frost sign contract. People have time on hands and that’s how they fill it.

Yeah but this kid doesn’t waste anytime tracking the jet. He has a bot do it. Sounds like a smart kid to me

He’s not buying it because of the jet tracker. He doesn’t want people banned because of opinions. Muslim Terrorist groups pages are alive and well but if you disagree with woke movement you have a real shot of getting banned.

I'm not super informed on this issue but I do remember seeing a lot of taliban tweets...I think back when the US pulled out.

Isis doesn’t have a megaphone on Twitter

and no I don’t think the UCF student was the primary reason . This is an ego play by Elon, he isn’t some free speech hero

I won’t get into this on the Fan Forum but Twitter, Facebook need more moderation , not less. Leave that extremist trash to Telegram and the Water Cooler.

Fine. I’ll give all the moderation you want as long as I’m the one that gets to decide what is censored and what isn’t.

Also social networks can be on top of the World but then become irrelevant over night. So he may walk back promises if he sees it hurting membership and engagement, do not think he is dumb enough to tank such as massive investment to please trolls

So trolls don’t have freedom of speech?
so you don’t want a red line to temporarily mute tweets or suspend an account ? even if they spew hate speech or threaten violence? any online community that becomes too toxic in the long term will fail bc people will get exhausted by it . Again he may not let it get that far despite getting cheerleaded by some of those characters right now

People get banned for content they post. Not for their controversial alleged identity. The vast majority of Twitter users tweet without any identity verification anyway.

I’m actually hoping Twitter and Facebook go bye bye for not allowing free speech. People are too soft nowadays.

Sorry but when people, like my 75 year old mother, are spewing things like, and I QUOTE, "Russia is doing the world a service because they are destroying the COVID-Bio labs as well as the child trafficking webs in Ukraine".....yeah. I've got a problem with that.

If you control a force as pervaisive as FB or Twitter, something needs to be done about it.

Frankly, I wish social media never existed.

She’s entitled to her opinion even if it’s incorrect.

The free society answer to your problem is as simple as a persuasive argument convincing her of the absurdity of her position. The answer is not to have some government or corporate committee (or amalgamation thereof) decide what is right for people to hear and what is not right. Similarly, the answer to rhetoric that radicalizes is transparency of the lies of that rhetoric and doing things that embrace freedom and opportunity.

I think you're grossly over estimating the general publics ability to understand logic and apply reason. I know of a few studies that found people refuse to believe the truth even when presented overwhelming evidence.
