ESPN Layoffs: who was fired today

Lol at all the tweets saying the same thing. Wonder if it was a condition of their release by ESPN?

Would be nice to see a "Fvck you ESPN! Suck my d!ck!" tweet. I know they all have to get jobs after this but it would still be funny.

Danny Kannel gone. Don't have to deal with his awful picks anymore.

Jamelle Hill still has a job? All of the afternoon shows are garbage. They should just create a sitcom or bring back that 90's cartoon with Bo Jackson, Gretzky and Jordan.
I'm convinced that they are intentionally running their network into the ground if Hill survives these layoffs. No way in hell she's producing higher ratings on SC, I can't find 1 person that enjoys watching or reading her content.

dropping McMurphy, Stark, Kannell, and Werder, but keeping assbags like Stephen Smith, Jemele Hill, and Jay Bilas (and don't forget they tried to throw millions at Skip Bayless to stay) is a total fail. Basically, you need to be a controversial windbag if you want a job at ESPN these days.

There is nothing wrong with Jay Bilas. He is an excellent analyst and brings a lot to their college basketball games.

courtesy of an Honors find on the JV board. I remember Kannell being the color commentary for the UCF vs Louisville game, he was one of the first guys to talk up Bortles before that game
:joy:

Interesting take on the situation:

With day-to-day reporting going the way of Twitter and Facebook, ESPN is turning its back on paying for that content, and those who provide it, because they can’t make money on it. Opinions can be advertised against (a Subway fresh take) and college football and the NFL will keep being played in between beer commercials.

Inside information is a competitive advantage, but less so when information is distributed so widely, so quickly. ESPN won’t be first to break news, but they’ll always be the loudest.

Really bummed they canned Kannel, Russillo and Kannel was always fun to listen to on lunchbreaks.

The audience loves these crazy ass argument shows, it fits perfectly with society right now. Would I prefer ESPN keep actual reporters and get rid of these loud mouths (Kellerman, Steven A and Jemele), yes, but I'm also no longer ESPN's target audience.

McMurphy always had an axe to grind against USF. He was a decent reporter when he was on our beat but also took shots at us whenever possible.
