Everyone in cfb is getting fired.

sark, edsall, North Texas hc. Now the gol shoe needs to drop.
North Texas got beat by Portland State 66-7. Portland State also beat Washington State but getting punked by a 1-AA program should get you fired. They just didn't play bad and lost a close game. They got beat 66-7. They have been destroyed in 4 of their 5 games and the other game wasn't close either. Edsall should have been let go after last season. Sark obviously has off-field issues which could turn into a PR nightmare. We suck ballz this year but I think GOL will get a pass on being fired based on the injuries, turnover in players and staff, and his track record of playing for conference titles 3 out of 4 times we had bad seasons. It'll be interesting to see what this offseason brings. He's moved staff before when they didn't perform well. I think he's got to at least bring in some more seasoned coaches. It'll all work itself out naturally based on wins and losses.

You do realize a lot of the boosters have said that they want George gone now, right?

Lol at the huggers rationalizing other coaches getting fired. McCarney was 22-32 with North Texas. His best year with the Mean Green came in 2013, when they went 9-4 and won the Heart of Dallas Bowl. Does this sound familiar?
Edsall shouldve been fired last year? He was 7-5 before the bowl game. If we were to demand GOL be fired for that record, you huggers would call us spoiled and impatient.

If he never won anything, nor played for conference titles you wouldn't find anybody backing any coach that was here at UCF if they were nothing but mediocre for 3 or more years in a row. Thing is he has been well above mediocre several times, including 4 of the last 5 seasons. The losing isn't consistent, though. Some might say the winning isn't consistent and I can live with that. Repeatedly winning hardware usually buys coaches some time to prove themselves, though, like it or not.
I don't see any similarity. That coach has never won anything in his entire career....17 seasons of nothing. GoL has 3.3 conference titles and a bcs bowl victory but i guess that is similar? Except that he is not well below .500 for his overall record or conference record but i guess that is similar? Mccarney went 9-4, 4-8 then 0-5 at north texas. So gol will be 9-4, at least 0-6, and then will probably get next year to see if this is just a very bad season or he can right the ship. Only time will tell. In 17 seasons dan mccarney was only.500 or better six times and only finished with a conference record above .500 twice. I guess iowa state thought constantly going 4-4 or worse in conference play was acceptable, which is sad. Edsall was 7-5 but only 4-4 in conference play. 3-5 the year before. 2-6 the year before that. I don't see any similarity there, either.
Let me say, i'm not going to cry if he retires, coaches next year or gets canned. I'm just a fan sitting in the stands, traveling to away games, also a bball season ticket holder, etc... If he is here next year and we don't finish with 7-8 wins and 5 or more wins in conference, I have no beef at all with moving on. There are plenty of qualified coaches out there and some really good coordinators as well that just need an opportunity to prove themselves, and want to. SMU and Houston both made good hires. No reason to think we wouldn't make another good hire as well. Honestly, I don't like the whole "coach in waiting" label or whatever you want to call it. If you want a new head coach you go out and interview the best candidates and pick the person you think will do the best job....period. I don't care about loyalty, etc... On the flip side, you pick someone that doesn't work out and you have to live with another 2,3 or 4 years of mediocrity or worse.

He's not getting fired period. It's a waste of time to even talk or type about it.
