we all knew we needed to keep winning this year.....a great performance this year would be worth hundreds of millions of $$$ to the university.....and it was top of mind for our president, athletic director and head football coach....

so what happens when you come out and lay an egg.....someone should have to answer for it right? you bet....

it won't be the Pres. so it's got to be either the AD or HC...

but there's a problem....in their wisdom, the powers that be constructed the 2015 version of UCF sports with a HC who is also the AD.....btw, who the h## is responsible for that? anyway, either the AD needs to fire the HC or the Pres. needs to fire the AD.......take your pick but either way, GOL needs to be fired either as AD or as HC....not later, right now....

bottom line, Dr. Hitt, it's time you step in and do the job....because, fiscally, this AD/HC is costing the university hundreds of millions of $$$ and no fiscally responsible Pres. can allow that to happen...

10 years of progress (up and down) negated this year. 10 years just pissed away as far as building a SOLID team. A team that can at least compete.

They won't get rid of the old mush bucket. OK, he did alot for the program...but it's time to go. He 's lost his mind. Brent Key? NO!

The recruiting is gone. It will be years before UCF may be good again.

Losing to Furman (enrollment 2800) is the bottom of the barrel.

"But look at all he's done!"

"Are you saying you DIDNT want to win a fiesta bowl?!"

"Rebuilding year."

Gut feel is that Hitt makes the move. He's the one looking foolish right now for allowing the head football coach to take on AD duties during such a critical season, and I'm sure he is not happy about that at all.

Dream on nut hugger. This program is stuck in the G5 forever. Only hope is that the playoff expands and the G5 can receive an auto bid

I'm a hugger because I'm realistic about what our program really is? We can still get into one of the top bowls by being the best of the G5 which will be much easier to then being a middle of the road P5 team. If we did get into the Big 12 we'll be closer to Texas Tech or West Virginia instead of Oklahoma or TCU. Sure we might not make the money remaining in the American but we have the better chance to be a 10 win championship team every year.

Still not hundreds of millions. Plus that possibility had nothing to do with how we faired on the football field this year.

wow....this is an ignorant reply....we're talking revenue here...a move to P5 is worth at least $20M annually in football payouts alone from the B12, increased attendance (expanded stadium) and concessions, increased national exposure and respect for every sport, etc. and the $20M is recurring revenue....over the next 10 years alone it's worth hundreds of millions of $$ to UCF and the Pres has to show his fiscal responsibility and his decisiveness (to those who make P5 decisions) and act on this....

GOL needs to "step down" and we need to hire someone respected with Big 12 ties. This shit show needs to end.

My post is ignorant but this one isn't? We were guaranteed a Big 12 spot with another 10 win season? All that big 12 talk and revenue talk is pointless right now. There is no legit talk of expansion and even if there was the selection process isn't based on how we faired this season. The university itself has set itself up to be a prime candidate, the past years of success have also, this season sucks and is going to be worse as it goes on but it's not the dagger in expansion that isn't even being discussed.

A bad season doesn't mean we aren't a factor in expansion. However, it's a easier sell when you win consistently.
Coach Oleary has done a good job for our school and he has been compensated probably even more than he deserves when you add in the bad seasons. Oleary just isn't the guy to guide us into the P5. He's just not a consistent winner due to his coaching style and recruiting philosophies. He is a good man and I think he really cares about his staff and players. We do great academically with our kids but at the end of the day you have got to win. He understands the pressure of this job. If we didn't have aspirations of getting into the P5 then Oleary could stay as long as he wants.

I don't have the answer but I do know that Dr. Hitt is under serious pressure about what to do about the future of the program. Oleary is close to retirement anyway so does he force Oleary to step down at seasons end and become AD and make Key the acting Coach for rest of Olearys contract. However, if it doesn't go well buy him out for a small amount. This would keep the consistency in the program and we start to change our recruiting to get better talent.

My gut tells me Dr. Hitt is going to force coach Oleary to step down at the end of the season and take over as AD. And with doing that allow our coaches to change how we recruit and consistently get better talent. Oleary hands just needs to removed from recruiting and managing how the coaches so their job. He has to much influence on game day play calling and it's hurts the offense and defense. Coach Oleary will still be a great leader from the administrative side with academics and pushing to the school to P5 conferences.

Do you honestly believe the Big 12 is going to court a football program that just lost to a I-AA opponent? Keep dreaming.
Kansas has lost to sdsu and memphis so far this year. Kansas lost to rice two years ago. Kansas lost to rice and niu in 2012. K-state lost to north dakota state two years ago. Iowa state lost to toledo this year. Iowa state got crushed by north dakota state last year. Iowa state lost to northern iowa two years ago. Texas got smoked by byu in 2013 and 2014. What matters is what money you can bring to the table.

This is not the answer. If GOL becomes AD he will keep Key forever. We need to tell GOL thank you and encourage him to retire.

It doesn't matter what you do afterwards its what you bring to the table. Right now the momentum is against us and apparently the hardliners are fine with it.

LOL Kansas is already in the P5. Once you are in you are in. Besides do you not see what they bring to the table in basketball? Stop being in denial and realize that product on the field is just as important or even more than TV sets.

Temple was in and then got kicked out because of their on field performance. They have a good basketball product and a big TV market so it could happen, doubtful but not impossible.

Temple didn't start 0-3 for one season and then got booted. They were hideous for years. They cost Miami playing for the national title when they used to use the BCS formula. They went 14-80 in Big East play, and from 1990 to 2008 they never had a winning record. The comparison to our current season is not even in the same galaxy.

I wasn't comparing Temple to us, it was in reference to Kansas. Someone mentioned that no matter how much they suck at football they'll remain a P5 team and have no chance of being kicked out of a conference. I mentioned Temple as a team who were kicked out for all their struggles.

Uh Kansas bball > Temple bball. There's where that comparison to temple ends. I'd compare the temple situation to a school like wake forest.

We need to at least win 3 games to avoid serious damage to the program.

Bump.....I'm going to keep this thread alive until we win 3....and now since we're 0-4 it means we have to go 3-5 in conference....if we can't do that and big changes aren't made, we will truly have an admin/sports program that doesn't care/has no passion for UCF and I would recommend that the fans give them the same....this isn't about GOL now, it's about UCF....

Now 0-6....terrible back to back performances with one sided losses to conference opponents...

Dr. Hitt, it's time to step up and deliver a solution....because if you don't, you will be part of the problem....
