The Rivals.com app is here! The BETA version of the app is currently available in the Android Market (search for Rivals or Rivals.com) while the Apple version should be available hopefully soon. The Apple review process is much more stringent.
This is a very early version of the app, so keep that in mind. A second version of the app is currently being pushed within the next day which will take care of some bugs.
Upon signing in, your home site will be the default option and you can toggle between content and forums. That's fine and dandy, but really no different than using your mobile browser. The cool thing though is phone notifications. This is replacing the aging text alert system. It's up to the individual publisher to decide which items are worthy out of sending a push notification, but my early thought is the basics such as breaking news, commits, things like that. We'll get a consensus on what you'll want push notifications for.
The next version of the app will enable message board notifications, such as when you receive a private conversation (similar to the Twitter DM notification). That version should push to Android within the next few days while Apple may be a little behind that.
Since it's still in its early formative stages, Rivals is holding back from mass promotion until a few more of the bugs are squashed and the app is available on Apple as well (hopefully soon) but if you have Android and want to play around with it, search for it.
