I never had an SNES. I was born in 1982 and raised pretty poor. My first system was a used Intellivision I got from a garage sale when I was about 8 or 9. I clearly remember Toys R Us carrying their games (albeit in a very limited selection) back then. Pitfall, Frogger, crappy clones of Pong & PacMan, etc.
It was about 2 years later than we could finally afford an NES. We bought it back when you could get it with 2 controllers, a light gun and a game.
I had that system until I bought an N64 in 1996. I still have both of those systems at my parents' house and both still work flawlessly. I bust them out sometimes when I go over. My son gets a big kick out of Donkey Kong 64.
