I feel like this kind of situation happens a lot, a “lesser” team goes all the way with a coach (in this case, the CFP), the coach makes it seem like he’s staying forever. The team then has a good but not great subsequent year without their previous QB, the coach bolts for greener pastures.

Wiscy last coach only got 5.25 mil. They pay coaches by donations and not from Athletic Budget. So whatever the number is the donors met it.

I think if I were an elite QB now under NIL I would figure out a way to make some kind of NIL deal linked to a coaches potential future contract . There could be a performance clause if the team goes 9 wins or better and the coach gets hired away for millions more ,then the QB gets a percentage of that dude's new contract . KZ delivered big time for UCF and Frost and Heuple parlayed their success on his back for tens of millions. With NIL it seems there could be a way for QBs that are great or any other great player to get a piece of that pie . I know it sounds ridiculous,but is it really?

NIL is not paid by coaches. Its paid by business owners who want athletes to endorse product. It won’t come out of coaches pocket.
