If a current employee is making $14.50/hr, and the min wage gets bumped to $15/hr; what do you pay said employee?

A) $15/hr. Hey they got a $.50/hr raise

B) $30/hr. They were making double the min wage before, they should after

C) $22/hr. They were making seven dollars more than minimum-wage before, so that should after.

D) something else

What will happen in most cases is that the employee will be let go and somebody without that wage history will be brought in at the minmum (after you raise the prices to cover the increase labor costs).

In the case of MCD's, you fire the person and install a machine that costs 25% less per hour to operate than paying an order taker a ridiculous $15/hour.

that's about my take as well.

It just further erodes the "middle class" pulling more of them who were getting by into the just barely getting by group.

The fact that 30K per year is considered middle class means that it's already eroded.

Yup. It's coming. Look at Chili's, Olive garden, etc. installing those self-service ordering kiosks at tables. Soon they won't need wait staff. They'll just have hostesses and runners/bussers. Online ordering has severely diminished the need for phone staff in the pizza delivery business, and it's quickly coming to the rest of fast food as well.

It sucks, but most employers would go somewhere between A and C, but a lot closer to A than C. Nobody except maybe the UAW is getting B. Many unions contracts are tied to raises in the Federal minimum wage (maybe even state), so every time it goes up, those union workers' wages also go up.

I look forward to my academic and career accomplishments being eroded by people with none. Why push myself when I could have sat on my ass with no responsibility and still turned out making a decent wage.

Don't hate the player, Frogerz.

Fast food jobs are for teenagers in high school not losers who have done but the bare minimum their entire life. Fuking losers.
