Wifes company is having a conference, and I decided to be one of the tag along spouses. Staying at the Cosmopolitan. Not really keen on going to shows. Only thing I have planned on doing is having a few cocktails and playing craps. Any other gaming suggestions or can't miss restaurants/bars?

Plenty of Scenery at The Chandelier Bar at the Cosmopolitan but would do the gambling at the other nearby casinos. O'sheas Casino is a fun spot for cheap tables and drinks. That block of Cosmo, Planet Hollywood, Paris/Miracle Mile shops, & Bellagio is the best part of the Strip. January is a slow month but for food you can't go wrong with the Seafood Buffet at the Flamingo for 1 of your meals.

We go 3 or 4 times a year and most of the time we just walk up and down the strip and check out the scenery. Love the Cosmopolitan. Slip the desk clerk a $50 when you check in and ask them if they have any upgrades. Go to Freemont street at night. Take a picture with the 2 fat naked ladies with pasties on their hang lows. Go to the Skyfall lounge at the top of Mandalay Bay. Great view of the strip and doesn't cost you a ton. Check out the Thrillist webpage for more interesting things to do.

The Beatles show is fun. Hara's has Casino War because you just gotta do it. Happy Hour at the British pub in Caesars Palace can be fun. Drop 500 bucks in a Wheel-of-Fortune slot machine and watch all the poor-o's get pissed. Also, make sure you collect all of the free cards they pass out on the street. I have never been able to do it but I hear that you get a great discount at select places if you collect them all.

Beatles show is definitely cool. I like the restaurant at the top of the stratosphere for the views. Go to a nice buffet like the Bellagio. If you're into burgers there are a few good places on the strip. I prefer to gamble at the cheaper hotels but I tend to stick to pai how poker, 3 card, and Holdem. I will play craps here and there.

When are you going? I'll be there the week of the 18th for SHOT Show.

The AVN Awards/Exhibition are always down the street the same week......

Unless, your wife is there for the AVN conference? :eyes:

I believe I am flying in the 20th. .. And yes, my wife works for Vivid entertainment.

Vegas is fun anytime but I love the atmosphere of pool season. Late April-June it's a different environment, even if you don't want to pay for the Daylife Pool parties just hanging out at the free swim up bar at Caesars is awesome. During the Winter months there is temptation to gamble too long

Its cold in the desert (especially at night).

Sunshine is great during the day (normal Jan high 58), average low 34.

Bring a good pair of sneakers...as you will be doing (and want to do) a lot of walking.

Being at City Center is a great location...as we always try to stay in that area since so much is within a pretty easy walk (Bellagio, PH, Paris, Caesars, etc...) as with nice weather (i.e. not 100 degrees plus), its easy to get around by walking.

What is this SHOT thing 85?

SHOT = Shooting Hunting Outdoor Tradeshow

It's the biggest single shooter/outdoorsmen exhibition in the world and it just happens to be in Vegas in the Venetian exhibition center. A lot of exhibitions hire "local girls' work their booths for them.

Do you drink? Lots of fun bars downtown in old Vegas: Freemont East. If you are flying solo visit the Insert Coin bars for some cheap fun. Lots of great steak restaurants as well: SW at the Wynn, N9NE are two of my favorites.
Outdoor activity might be chilly but you can rent dune buggies and go rip it up in the desert or rent exotics at their speedway.

Make sure you wear all your Ed Hardy gear( or Tap Out if you're just as douchey, but more violent).

Yell "Vegas Baby" on the plane at least three times.

Make sure you get to Vegas drunk so you blow your wad before even setting foot on the city.

Make a bunch of Hangover jokes to the staff at whatever hotel your staying. They love it!

Walk by the same Mexicans handing out cards over and over. See if you can make your stack bigger than there's. It's a fun game the locals play.

If you get on a Vegas episode of Cops, they have to give you a fleece onesie blanket that has dice where your balls should be. You also get an invite to a secret poker game with Big Bird, Jason Bateman and the guy who did the voice for The Cookie Crook.

Reserve a lunch at the Stratosphere restaurant. Lunch starts around $15, but it rotates and you get a cool 360 view of the city. I think dinner starts around $150...

Complement one of the flapper guys Canadian Tuxedo and he'll sell you some blow. If you play your cards right with the strippers you can get much more than just a lap dance. Or just skip that and call up an escort. But beware they may steal your roommate's belongings.

It will likely be chilly but not overly so. @OlearyLookAlike might have some more suggestions.

Well I don't gamble but I can meet for a drink! The show is absolutely crazy and I'm not sure which nights I'll be free yet though.

You should visit the Venetian expo hall one day and check out SHOT Show. It's absolutely awesome and insane. Something like 85,000 people attend.
