UCF wins 80-56 UCF played great the 2nd half.
https://ucf.forums.rivals.com/threads/aj-davis.46740/How did I miss that AJ Davis is out until December?
The other 3-4 guys look good so far.
Tacko blocked weakly by their 7-foot Aussie, so Tacko merely grabbed it back and scored anyway. He went to the floor several times to get the ball. Loved his failed attempt to lead the fast break. three dribbles covered half the length of the court. A pretty assist by Laing off his drive for a Tacko dunk. Tacko and B.J. both called for a couple ticky-tack offensive fouls.Nice to see the big guy working the boards. (Tacko Time) Nicholls had no answer for him.

As Jones had told him last season, Dawkins also said last night that he shouldn't try to block every shot. I'm more concerned about B.J. getting beat up like Jordan used to be by driving the middle (I'd rather he pull up more for his very accurate looping shot). Chance didn't have that problem because he was so quick and got so high. B.J. doesn't get the elevation nor is his ball handling and acceleration good enough (yet?) to bring the ball up without working so hard (I wish he'd look to pass into the frontcourt). I know, it's just his first game back, but he's still a 2-guard in a point guard's body.Situations like that will be key come conf play (or in any of the tough 3 games this weekend), as neither can afford to get into foul trouble.
I wonder if last night's game was the first time that UCF had to use 2 walk-ons in the first half (at the same time too).
What a sensational article! And it just got a lot better Monday night. No way Nate or anyone else in the world expected he'd be playing most of the first half. He's the only one without a name on his jersey, and his number 30 wasn't listed on the program. I'm asked everyone sitting around me.I had to google his name to learn more about the dude. He played pretty good. I think I saw him make one bad pass, but basically was a pretty good relief point guard last night.
Walk-on Nathan Laing set to make an impact for UCF basketball
From graduate assistant to walk-on: Nathan Laing is set to make an impact for UCF basketball.http://www.cbssports.com/college-ba...ing-set-to-make-an-impact-for-ucf-basketball/

We're not saying he's an all star, just that we've been without a natural point guard for two seasons (even B.J. averaged 34 pts in high school and did all the shooting). A grad asst. flunkie makes the team, forced to play big minutes against a team that just trounced BC at home, and us with zero depth. Everyone in the arena including me feared disaster when he was forced into service. This is better than Rudi, not Field of Dreams. If we salvage wins in the weeks before A.J. returns, it's gonna be because we now know Nate can spell Matt or B.J. without the roof falling in.His name was on the program, just under another #. Everyone seems to be talkimg him up, but I was not impressed with his play. He looked a little lost on the floor. I would rate him average for a walk on at best (after 1 game).
