Hey folks. You may have covered this, but is our game televised vs FIU in Orlando?

Someone told me its a hundred bucks a year.
Wut? No.

Vue is an online streaming service designed like a cable service. If you have an Amazon Fire TV, it pretty much looks like your standard cable menu and your channel flipping functions. If you have Roku, it's tile based.

I pay $35 x month for 70 something channels including all the ESPN (SEC Network too), FS1, FS2, beIN Sports, NBC Sports, CSN, CSN Mid Atlantic, B1G Network, NFL Network, etc. I can also use my Vue login to authenticate on all the apps for these channels (Watch ESPN, Fox Sports Go, NBC Sports, etc) and watch tv anywhere on my phone or tablet. I have the middle channel package (there's a 50 channel and a 100 channel package). You can stream on up to 4 devices simultaneously (Sling only allows one at a time). You don't need a Playstation device to use it, just a Playstation Network ID, which is free to create. Only downfall is that if the Playstation Network goes down, your service goes down, but you can still watch tv on the apps you logged in with you Vue credentials.

Why haven't you done this yet?

Jets, what about Bravo. THAT's the big question. lol How many streams do you get for $35?

Regardless of which channel package you select, you get 4 simultaneous streams, which do not include simultanous streams on separate channel apps. Example, you could have 4 tvs with VUE running at the same time and still watch the ESPN app on your phone while you wife watches the Bravo app on her phone.

Like, it's such a no brainer, I don't understand why people are still paying for cable.

NFL Sunday Ticket, I mean the Falcons are worth watching when Ishmael starts, but not every week.

You can get NFL Red Zone channel for $40 for the whole season with Vue.

DirecTV will lose Sunday Ticket soon enough. The tv landscape is changing too fast and the NFL is missing out on lots of revenue from streaming.

Does the Red Zone have every play? Never could understand why ESPN (or whoever it is) thinks the "fastest 3 minutes" clips of the weeks games was ever a selling point

PS can't wait to drop Directv

RedZone flips from game to game showing you mostly scoring plays. basically, if a team is in the RedZone, the channel flips to that game. So it's not just another clever name, like The Shitty Beatles.

Sweet! Thanks Jets, Looked up the channel lineup. Looks like a winner and saving $40/month.
Bruh, I thought I done learned you all this stuff already!!!

I'm saving $41 and change over FIOS. I only had 2 cable boxes with FIOS, now I have tv on every room, on the computer, on the tablet, on the phone, on the Playstation, I mean, you name it.

Oh, well then it's not for me. If I had a favorite team then it would be great, but I'm just watching to see how the ex-UCF guys do, like watching Chris Martin during the pre-season.

Yeah, I don't have it. I'd pay a la carte just to stream the Jets games only if I could. The NBA already does that with their tv package. I hope the NFL follows suit.

Actually ran the exact numbers and only saving $28.45/month. SOB. BH rapes you when you just have internet. Century link is the only other option for me and it's 2mb/sec. Can't watch shyt with that speed. FU BH!

Wut? BH cheapest Internet is $57 x month. I had it when I was back in O Town and I could LAN and kill noobs with no lag or nothing.

I will add that I could save even more if I decided to lower my internet speed, but I'm a snob.

Also, $28.45 x month is $341.40 a year. That's gas, going out to the movies, perhaps a plane ticket.

That's surprising to me, considering they probably charge $10/mo to rent your set top box.

Agree. FIOS was charging me $10 for each cable box and then $20 for the DVR service. That's $40 every month BEFORE my charges for whatever tv package I had, which wasn't great, I might add.

@muckdawg24, I think you need to look at your numbers again.

This is an interesting service. I want to cut the cord, but BrightHouse is very convenient and pretty reliable.

What do you do about local channels? Just have an antennae? Also, I didn't see CBSSN anywhere on the plans. Did I miss that or do they not have that network? Looks like we'll have at least 2 games on that network this season.

With Vue, your local network retransmitters will vary depending on where you live. I'm right outside DC and Vue offers me NBC & Fox live tv, as well as ABC On Demand.

CBS is a different animal. They already have their own online streaming service and they don't play well with others. I currently use an antenna (Mohu Leaf 60) for CBS.

CBS Sports is even weirder. Their app is mostly clips from their shows but every now and then they do broadcast a live feed of a game. and, I think, if you subscribe to CBS' online service, you can watch some of the sports programming, but unless you have CBS Sports with your cable package, they only allow you to authenticate through Cox, Frontier and some other obscure cable company.

So, basically, CBS sucks.

DirecTV will lose Sunday Ticket soon enough.
The tv landscape is changing too fast and the NFL is missing out on lots of revenue from streaming.

DirecTV has had the NFL Sunday Ticket since 1994...and their current contract goes thru the 2023 season (approx $1.5 Billion per year).

DirecTV would almost disappear if they ever lost the Sunday Ticket...the NFL knows that...and so does DirecTV...so I think odds are, the next contract will be awarded to DirecTV again.

That would be very unwise, considering tv viewership is migrating from traditional tv to streaming.

Yes, satellite, cable, that's all going to disappear in the next 10 years. If the NFL has any common sense, they will strike that iron while it's hot and try to be at the forefront delivering their product to as many people as possible. They've already bent their own rules enough to allow students and people that live in city buildings to get the Sunday ticket. Imagine EVERYONE being able to get Sunday ticket. The decision lies with the NFL alone, DirecTV will not be able to stop them if they decide to part ways.

I'm with Jets. I cut the cord a few months ago and picked up Vue. It is pretty awesome. The only downside is that you do not get the local feeds for CBS, NBC, or ABC in the Orlando area. You do get it for Fox.

But i'm just going to pick up a digital antennae for the local channels. Personally, I love Vue. The picture is clear if you have good internet. And I really like how my Playstation acts as a DVR. I can record a show for weeks and can fast forward and rewind as I please. Honestly, its the cable cutters dream come true.

Yes, their DVR feature is pure money!!!

That sucks that you can't get the networks in Orlando. That's all going to change as more people subscribe. NYC has all 4 networks. The main hurdle will be CBS because, as I've alluded on a previous post, they don't play well with others and they want their standalone app/service to be successful... which won't be.

My tv expenses are:
$75 x internet (75/75 mbps)
$35 x Vue, in as many devices as I want.

Yeah. You jelly of @SublimeKnight and I.

Mine are

$35 a month for 25 Mbps Internet for one year through brighthouse. I know it will go up.

And $35 for Vue and it gets me all the channels ppl want yo actually watch. Best decision ever to cut cable.
