FL election amendments

for how political every thread in here turns. no one wants to talk about the possible fl amendments...

And we still dont.
i understand why our friends from nebraska wouldnt reply. i know youre up in indiana so obviously doesnt apply to you either. maybe you could just sit this one out.

theres a good number of people still here in the state that might want to give their take on the laundry list of amendments. i understand that several have now been removed so thats a good thing.

They had the chance to reply and they opted not to.

I'm voting No on Amendment 3. I think issues like this are why we elect representatives; so they can learn the things that we don't have time to learn and make educated votes. I realize that's idealistic but that is how the system should work. To have policy issues like this come to a popular vote and subject to the whims of advertising dollars is bad practice to me.

I think Amendment 6 is window dressing and am voting no. Many of the important provisions are already in effect and some of the others may enact an undue burden on the court system and cost more money for dubious value.

Ill be voting no on 3. Things like legal gambling in FL shouldn’t be left to a vote that requires 60% to pass. It’s almost impossible for that to happen.

Which is why Disney and the Seminole Tribe are pushing so hard for a yes vote. They want to keep their monopolies on gambling and dollars spent on possible entertainment.

That is the only amendment that I've honestly followed. I'm also voting no.

Same here. Disney and the Seminoles are pouring an insane amount of $ into this (I believe nearly $40 million). I would personally want Florida to allow some new MGM or Caesar casinos.

I, too, vote against all amendments—even those that might improve people’s lives. I don’t trust the gubment to improve people’s lives at all.

Florida voters approved 11 of 12 amendments to the Florida Constitution, including measures that restore voting rights to certain felons, and a ban on greyhound racing.

im really surprised almost all of them passed.
I’d love to know how many people just voted yes on the amendments and had no idea what they were voting for. Amendment 6 should never have passed. Most of those were already codified into law or were unnecessary and conflicting and yet now we have a constitutional provision to redundant reporting.

As someone who wants legal sports gambling in FL, I’m beyond pissed. It’s never going to happen now. The wording that was confusing on purpose got people. But if 11-12 passed it sounds like 100% people didn’t know what they were voting for.

With all the outreach to get people to vote, shouldn’t we follow that up with asking them to do a little research? I’d bet the majority of voters knew nothing more about the amendments than what they read on the ballot. That is a crying shame. People really shouldn’t vote on issues and races they know nothing about. That goes to party-line voters as well.

Should have been YES on voting rights for former felons, and ending dog racing, and NO on every other one.
