As the sun appears to be setting on the "rivalry" with ECU, let's take a walk down Memory Lane and remember that epic 2014 game in Greenville.

There were so many exciting finishes in 2013/14, I think the Football Gods had no choice but to give UCF the 2015 winless season.

The Hail Perriman game probably ranks at the top. It wasn't just a win against your conference rival - that single play clinched the first time UCF won back-to-back conference championships.

UCF didn't have any marquee P5 wins in 2014 (lost to Penn State in Dublin and Missouri), and unfortunately dropped their only conference game on the road at UConn, so the New Year's Six bowl was not in play. Boise State got it that year and played Arizona in the Fiesta Bowl.

As for that ECU game, UCF appeared to be in control. They led 26-9 going into the fourth quarter (Shawn Moffitt made four field goals) before ECU was able to capitalize on three touchdown drives to go on top with 2:17 to go. UCF got the ball - did nothing with it in four downs (had a false start and a sack).

ECU got the ball with 1:47 left on UCF's 15 yard line! They essentially went into victory formation, but kept on going backwards. On the fourth down play, Shane Carden (who is viewed as one of the best QBs in ECU history) took a sack. During that drive, ECU LOST 20 yards.

So with 10 seconds left, Justin Holman had time to pick up 14 yards with a quick sideline pass to Josh Reese (who got out of bounds) and then put it up there for Breshad Perriman to catch it. The ECU DBs totally whiffed - I'll never forget the image of the one dude just standing there getting ready to pull off his chin strap so he could take his helmet off to celebrate.

It was an absolutely surreal moment.

It was also George O'Leary's final win at UCF.

Amazing finish to clinch a championship... This should have been the perfect ending.

UCF went on to play NC State in the Bitcoin St. Petersburg Bowl, losing 34-27. Then we all know what happened in 2015.

What do you remember about the Hail Perriman game? Did you watch until the end? Did you turn off the TV? I can't remember who, but there was a poor chap on here that was in attendance and LEFT THE STADIUM because he thought the game was over.

Here's the ESPN footage of the final sequence:
