If you've already booked Southwest out to California for the Stanford game, it may be a good idea to check your flights and see if the price has come down. They're running a fall sale right now and I was just able to re-book our flight out (into Orange County from Tampa) onto the same flight and got a credit of $114. Your "mileage" may vary, of course. Our flight back home (Oakland to Tampa) on the 19th is still running higher than I booked it for, so obviously I didn't do anything for that flight. Also, may be a good time for those who've considered going out but haven't booked yet to take a look at flights.

In case you haven't done this before with Southwest, all you have to do is bring up your flight, select Change, check the box in front of the flight you want to change, click [Continue] to select new flights, select the same flight (if you want to), and then continue through to do the re-booking. If you've booked Early Bird, this transfers over to your "new" ticket. The price difference will be put into an "account" for future use and is connected to the original confirmation number. I think the expiration of the funds is the same date as the ticket expiration date, which is a year from when you first booked the ticket. Hang on to the confirmation email and put a reminder in your calendar because Southwest does not remind you that you have this credit, and I don't believe it shows up anywhere in your Southwest account.
