Football Teleconferences Week 7: UCF Head Coach Scott Frost

Frost basically said that the guys should have made a play on the last drive and that he only had one opportunity to call a timeout as the clock was running after every other play. After the second completion. He said that 19 out of 20 times, you stop them.

Well.., he better rethink that strategy or else history will repeat itself more than 1 out of 20 times.

You'd think after the secondary getting torched twice, you'd take the time out to settle the defense and make sure they've got the right plays. Especially since as he said, the receiver went out of bounds and the clock had stopped anyway. It all happened so fast I don't think the defense was ready, you gotta take that timeout to make sure they are.

A good team can go 70 yards in 30 seconds if the defense is in complete disarray as ours was. So not stopping the clock made it even easier for Temple.

Can't take the Timeout home with you. Might as well use it. Most coaches would have stopped their momentum with a time out. Let the defense regroup and catch their breath. But, whatever....i'm sure the coaches and players learned a lot in that loss.
