North Texas: Oklahoma offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley interviewed this week for the North Texas head job reports the Star-Telegram’s John Henry. Henry adds that Arizona State OL coach (and former Abilene Christian head coach) Chris Thomsen and Texas A&M offensive coordinator Jake Spavital are believed to be on the list to interview and he notes that UNT is also expected to inquire about TCU’s Doug Meacham and / or Sonny Cumbie.
South Carolina: JC Shurburtt reports this after that Tom Herman is the “clear leading candidate” for the job. Shurburtt adds that Kirby Smart, Charlie Strong and Justin Fuente “could enter the mix” should the job get past Herman.
Georgia: DawgNation, which has been on top of things out Georgia, reports this afternoon that Mark Richt still hasn’t signed the new contract he “shook on” nearly a year ago. Georgia AD Greg McGarity says “To me a handshake is an agreement and the board approved it. Everybody approved it.” So, don’t expect any issue on that front; but the question remains, why wouldn’t Mark Richt handle his business timely. That’s just odd.
South Carolina: ESPN’s Joe Schad chimes in that Rich Rod & South Carolina “are worth close watching”. If you are so inclined, have a look at what Scott offered as his “Initial thoughts regarding candidates at South Carolina.”
FootballScoop: In anticipation of an active December, beginning later this afternoon we’re going to take the site into the shop, give it an oil change, put some new tires on and Doug promised us his cousin is hooking us up with some sweet rims. The site will still be up but if things appear a little funky, just know that we’re working through it.
Minnesota: Bruce Feldman is reporting that he is hearing “more & more this week that there is a lot of key support for interim head coach Tracy Claeys to keep the” job full-time.
Purdue: Darrell Hazell will return as head coach next season. Pat Forde of Yahoo reported this last night and this AM ESPN’s Brett McMurphy has the same report.
