For the O-line, we have to give Frost some recruiting time to get some horses

Depends on how fast his recruits can pick up the scheme. We have four recruits from last year's class, not sure if they were any GOL guys in there but got another 5 (?) coming in this cycle.

Next year might suck too.

There seems to be a noticeable dropoff with Hudanick out. Hopefully he gets back at full strength next year. We've got to replace Rae at Center, who is a senior, but all other starters return with a wealth of experience. Plug in a new center and let young recruits compete for jobs like Johnson did heading into this year. 4 star recruit Dowdell will be a RS Freshman. I think it will get much better and deeper based on this scenario.

I think the problem starts with Rae. He simply isn't big enough but he understands the position better than anybody that we've had here in a while. Also, what happen to Chavis Dickey? He was a stud as a freshman.

Dickey was displaced as starter by Johnson. Dickey is a huge and powerful dude, but I think Johnson's mobility and athleticism fits more of what Frost wants. Still should be a role for Dickey in short yardage/goalline situations IMO. Like a jumbo package.

Rae is this super overachiever and great leader. Most of the line breakdowns can't be blamed on him. In fact, lately, opponent's have been penalized for trying to take advantage of his size and stature: trying to leap over him or pushing him over him while he was snapping.

Dickey's status reminds us of how GOL was very picky about those who fit his football philosophy. I'd love for some of the bigger guys to get back in there. I wonder how Rae looks on tape. He must be okay to be the starter but he is small.

I agree.

Rae has that squatty center look. Been a reliable and experienced guy on a line with not much of that. I still have no clue whether Luke Hiers recovered from his surgery last year or if he has a future on the football team. Last I saw he was still attending UCF. He was a Florida top 100 kid and a top 10 center recruit for his class. Complete radio silence since his injury.

I thought I read or heard that he's done with football. Maybe Twitter or a coach? I can't 100% confirm that. Total mystery here.

As far a Rae, he may be an overachiever, leader and know the position, but his play is adequate at best. He would not start on a good offensive line.

I agree. Rae just way too small. He might be tough as nails, but you need size, skill, toughness at this level. :)

Yes, I think, believe, hope Dowdell will be awesome.
