I'm pretty sure the creation of The Voice put the nail in the coffin for this show.

Neither do anything for anyone's career anymore. Idol produced a couple megastars and a few more moderately-successful stars. The Voice is just a platform for judges. The concept of American Idol isn't bad - it's just gotten old and no longer relevant.
