Sunday, Oct 25th at 3 pm.

CFE/UCF Arena with free admission.

UCF Men's Team (with Tacko Fall et al) will have a 2 hour scrimmage.

do like that Donnie is not stuck in the stone age with social media, now if he can just become a good gameday x&os coach

Why is that a bad thing going to a scrimmage that is open to the public? Or we need to wait until we are top 25 caliber to care?

Great question.

It was great to meet and hear Tacko Fall (along with Adonis, Walker and AJ Davis) speak at the Victory Club Meeting today.

Anxious to see what all the new players look like on the court come Sunday.

I went to the scrimmage.

The BLACK team was Brendan Boyle, AJ Davis, Daiquan Walker, Adonys Henriquez, Shaheed Davis, and Staphon Blair. BJ Taylor was also on the team, but he didn't play.

The WHITE team was Djordjie Mumin, Tanksley Efianayi, Chad Brown, Chance McSpadden, and Tacko Fall. Matt Williams was also on the team, but he didn't play.

The WHITE team won on a Tanksley Efianayi floater buzzer beater. The black team was just as good if not better than the white team. That's good for the future, but bad because the black team is composed of most of our upperclassman (presumed starters)

I don't really think Brendan Boyle will see the court, but our Freshman class looks very promising. Tacko Fall, Chad Brown, and Chance McSpadden can become solid players. We are definitely more athletic than we have been in the past. Tacko had a few nice blocks and dunks.

My Projected Starting 5 based off of experience
PG- B.J. Taylor
SG- Adonys Henriquez
SF- A.J Davis (Tennessee transfer)
PF- Staphon Blair
C- Justin McBride/Tacko Fall rotation

For the highest ceiling though, I'd go with these 5 and hope they grow together
PG- B.J Taylor
SG- Tanksley Efianayi
SF- Adonys Henriquez
PF- Chad Brown
C- Tacko Fall/Justin McBride
Also give quality minutes to Daiquan Walker, Shaheed Davis, Staphon Blair, and A.J. Davis.

Matt Williams, Djordjie Mumin, and Brendan Boyle probably won't see many minutes.

The future looks very bright for this team. I'm expecting a mediocre season this year (15-15 kind of year), but we will be a solid team in a year or two.

Yeah. This season will be a whole new ball game - we're back at full strength. Our freshmen and our transfers can play. A. J. Davis, Tanksley Efianayi, and Chance McSpadden stood out. Adonys Henriquez got a quiet 15 or 16 points. Did not see B.J. Taylor in the game.

The 'white' team played Justin McBride along side Tako Fall for about half the minutes of the scrimmage. And it is a very interesting combo. The two seem to have developed a chemistry. In the last period, the white team started feeding McBride in the low post, who would dish to Fall coming in from the opposite side of the key.

Fall, I am delighted to say, is the real deal.

I think we are going to surprise some people this year.

I was there as well.....I thought Tako was the dominant player, by far, in this game....and Adonys is the most polished player on the squad....

All of Tako's baskets were dunks and he had a couple of acrobatic follow-ups on missed shots (on one the ball bounced over his outstretched hand so he stayed in the air long enough to come around with his other arm and dunk)....highlight show for sure....but the team has to learn how to pass the ball to him (once he officially qualifies) so Donnie should spend some time every practice working on lobs to Tako...he can be that dominating....

BJ, Adonys and Tako (assuming he qualifies and stays healthy) will be the heart and soul of this team for the next couple of years....but there are a lot of role players, especially the bigs and wings, that will help.....I hope we play everybody early and determine the right combinations for the conference season....we have a chance to be very respectable in a tough conference.....basketball should actually be fun again!

Team will be much better. Probably 2016-17 will be a great year when these guys get experience.

Impressed with Tacko for the most part. Definitely a much deeper and bigger vs last year.

So you're saying we have a talented sophomore point guard and sophomore shooting guard to go with a talented, soon-to-be dominating, freshman center? We definitely have a lot of young talent on the team! That is the core we need to build around!!

What are the next 3 years going to be like? Sounds like Donnie Jones is doing a good job recruiting.

Were you maybe sitting in the second row visitor side, one row behind me and to my left? Because that was exactly the conversation I overheard back there. And you are 100% right about a big 3.

But this team now also has about 9/10 guys who can play serious ball. Think about how many minutes the black team played the press on D during this scrimmage. And then contrast it with how depleted we were last year.

One of my most vivid memories of this scrimmage is of Fall rolling across the key in the low post with a lead on the defender, yelling at the top of his voice for the ball. Between Fall, McBride, and Blair, we have an almost unheard of opportunity to slam the ball down inside. We must perfect the entry pass.

I'm old school. The two playing together remind me of Rick Robey and Mike Phillips at Kentucky.

Last year we had 8 scholarship players most games with only 1 senior. We are much deeper and our team finally has some length. Tacko is going to be a pain for opposing teams in the paint.

I agree, Fall and McBride, playing together, showed a lot of potential today....and it really seemed to improve McBride's overall play. ....Justin passes the ball when Fall is in the game and doesn't force his shots .....and although he still needs to work on his passing, that wrap around was pretty sweet....twin towers would be quite a weapon if they develop the right chemistry...

and yes, I was one of the guys participating in the conversations behind you......

Enjoyed watching the "Twin Towers" McBride/Fall play some mins together...as McBride is a pretty good big man passer down low...and when players collapsed around McBride, he was still able to dish to Fall for easy dunks. (On the defensive end...both aren't the quickest players so there is some trade off).

As I predicted about how Fall will impact opposing players deciding not to drive the lane...that was apparent yesterday during multiple possessions when a wing or guard player had a path to bucket...but would stop 10-15 feet from hoop because of Fall's presence.

While UCF still needed to use a few walk-ons to give the healthy guys a rest (BJ and Williams nursing injuries), it opened some eyes as in year's past...UCF couldn't even really scrimmage against each other due to scholarship losses, injuries, etc...

Team will look different with BJ at the point but with more inside/outside scoring options...that should open the door for Adonis to get his 3 pt shot off..let alone his improved ability to drive the lane (UCF needs to get into the bonus early...Adonis needs to shoot more FT's...as he is probably the best FT on a team.

Hope the student body turns out to support this year's team...as they really impact the home court advantage that can help UCF win an extra game or two (or more).
