Of all our options I think Frost was the best. Everyone is excited and hopeful. Expectations for year one are fairly reasonable and I hope he is around for a while

Totally was off the radar as a fan. None of us saw this coming, but we are so excited that he is here. I still don't think it's a sure bet that he would leave if UCF becomes successful.

Just curious. Are there other coaches that run this offense? Do we have to hire another Oregon OC to keep the momentum going when Frost leaves? I don't see too many people running this offense and I would hate to have to spend years changing it back.

It would have to be a top 20 job. No offense to Nebraska but I'm not sure if they are one only because of recruiting footprint. He constantly mentions how tough it was to get good athletes to Oregon, Nebraska would be even harder. If Frost can dominate local recruiting by getting the kids that don't fit UF, FSU or UM's pro-style systems while making $3-4 million/year, why not stay and win 10-13 games every year? The stress and job insecurity at a top 20 school may not be worth it.

Or, maybe he is here to make as many connections possible so if/when he does go to Nebraska and brings his staff with him - he will have an established pipeline. SF doesn't seem like the type of person that would want to settle and get comfortable. That's good AND bad for us at the same time.

True. Never thought of it that way. I still think it'll be tough to get the athletes he wants to Nebraska.

If we dominate the AAC in recruiting, with our schedule it's very possible.
Maybe, but I don't think you are giving enough credit to the other programs in the AAC, nor the difficulty in winning that many games in any conference consistently. It takes more than recruiting. Coaching, execution and some lucky breaks as well.

I don't ever hear of anyone that thinks that Frost has any chance of failure. That totally amazes me for a guy who has never coached a college game. However, I really think this guy is going to do great things at UCF. So, I agree.
Ultimately, UCF will be a better program than Nebraska. Who wants to follow in the footsteps of others when he can be a UCF icon coaching figure if he succeeds? The face of the program. GOL got close in 2013, until the sky fell. Frost can be #1 in UCF history. Also, ultimately, if we win he will make the same or more money at UCF

I don't think that it's a no brainer that he will leave. Curious to see what Tom Herman does.

Most of these guy have their "dream job". For Frost it appears to be Nebraska and for Herman Texas. The problem is usually it is not the money, but the ego. Once you take UCF to a place like a Fiesta Bowl win, where do you go from there? Playoffs is probably out of the question for any non-P5 team unless they expand it. So you reached the pinnacle and you can only stay stagnant or get worse. Unless UCF gets into a P-5 Frost, if successful, will eventually move on.

I do think we eventually will and his dream job could hit him as being here, if he can take this university to new heights. We can stay near the top with him. Hopefully he will see the writing on the wall that the Nebraska job and program isn't what it used to be when he was there.
Teams fall off the elite status over time and new teams emerge. Like FSU, Baylor, etc. Teams like Penn State, Texas, Nebraska, IMO aren't what they used to be. There are a lot of other examples.

There is no Nebraska job anymore. I can't see Nebraska football surviving the current administration and new fan base. Nebraska was always a special circumstance in college football. No way it comes out of the suicidal death spiral that the chancellor and his AD started.

As far as Frost leaving for NU, he'd never consider it without Tom Osborne saying it was a good job. As Osborne is cut further from the program, it is unlikely that will ever be the case. Osborne came back once to save NU from itself, I doubt he will do it again.

It would be awesome if earns the right to stay and really cool if he doesn't jet for Nebraska if he does. I just don't see it as very likely that he would turn down Nebraska. I think he would rather bring his alma matter back to glory, over building our program, if given the choice. Maybe he could fall in love, but it's not the most likely scenario.

I hope you are right, but that is generally the exception than the rule. Had GOL been much younger he probably would have been offered a job somewhere after the Fiesta Bowl, and likely would have taken it

I have no idea what you are referring to. Nebraska is still a top program with tons of tradition. They are struggling in the B10, but the right coach could turn them around. Maybe there is something that I don't know, but that is my perception.

Frost would seriously have to consider whether he could recruit the kind of athletes necessary to run the Oregon offense at Nebraska...or consider switching his offensive style to something more traditional. That would be the main thing working in our favor.

Considering that Nebraska has a relatively new coach, I don't see him getting fired in the next two years, so there is time for UCF to grow on Frost even more. There is also the possibility of UCF getting that coveted P5 invite. Lots of wild speculation, but I believe UCF would have to be in the Top 3 candidates for B12 expansion based on the objective data comparing expansion candidates.

There is also the rumor that UCF and BYU were identified by a study commissioned by the B12 as being the most valuable candidates from a financial standpoint.

As for other P5 schools, I don't think Frost would want half of those jobs if they opened up. It is much tougher to win at places like Purdue, Northwestern, Illinois, Indiana, Wake Forest, Kansas, Iowa, Iowa State, California, Washington State, Syracuse, Pitt, and a few others than it is at UCF.

Finally, under Danny White, UCF's athletic budget is going to improve, meaning we will be able to pay as much or more than many P5 schools...though obviously not as much as the premiere programs.

I wouldn't say many (i.e. UCF having larger budgets in football/basketball than "many" P5 teams].

Maybe a few...but most P5 teams have "monopoly" money (Conf and TV $$$) that they can throw back to their major sports and/or spend it on salaries/facilities, etc...

Personally i can see why people don't respect us anymore, we haven't been relevant in quite some time. And it was all self destruction from terrible ADs and ADs hiring their buddies.

At any rate me being bias, i am very confident in what HC Mike Riley has going in recruiting right now and even though last year was rough, we lost 4 games on the last play of the game and 2 more we lost by only a score. Recruiting is incredibly difficult here for obvious reasons. The academic support is some of the best in the country and the facilities are near the top as well, mostly because of the glory years.

Watch out for our recruiting class this year, Keyshawn Johnson Jr is about to commit (Riley was his dads OC at USC) and he is bringing with him some big time Cali kids. People are laughing at us right now with the Riley hire but what people dont understand is he has some of the best connections NFL and high school coaches know him well. He also inherited a team that had very little talent and was the opposite system of what he wanted to play. Plus Bo and Co brainwashed the players into this us against the University, AD and fans mentality. Players even admitted this near the end of the season after they started buying in and we won the last 3-4 games. Riley has a NFL QB guru as QB coach and OC and one of the best up and coming Receiver coaches in the nation. To say im excited for the upcoming year is an understatement.
Yeah i'm sure none of you care about any of that but im telling you people are going to be surprised very soon.

Now you guys have no where to go but up from last year, which is good for Frost. Whats also good is people dont really remember the 0-12, people remember the bad ass run you guys made a couple years ago with Bortles. Coming from an outside prospective from across the country most people dont even realize you guys went 0-12. Just about the great season you had, its still fresh in everyones minds and Frost is going to eat that up to show the potential.

Will Frost leave if a Power 5 school offers? Only if he feels its a winning situation, yes Nebraska is a unique situation being his Alma mater. I suspect Frost we be in Florida a while.

Good post. I agree with everything. It's not that people don't respect Nebraska, it's just that it's going to be hard for them to get back to the top on a consistent basis like they were years ago. Weather and glamour matter
to 18 year-olds. Michigan kids will
put up with the weather to play for Harbough and he brought them to Florida for "Vacation". Notre Dame has the name even more than Nebraska. It's "cool" to play for Notre Dame. So.,, unless Nebraska can start a winning streak or get a "sexy" coaching name it's going to be a challenge.

I do think that Frost will be in Florida for awhile and if UCF becomes successful, he will really have to make some tough decisions.

We have to figure out how we get him to $3 million and/or an increase in assistant budget.

Nebraska still has a lot of money. Other than that it doesn't have anything to put it into the top football category. No recruiting hot bed, no Nike/Oregon cool, no beaches, no world-wide religion, no billionaires propping up the program. Nebraska football was a unique thing, built on unique values. Those are gone; gone when Coach Osborne was asked to leave. The modern Huzker Nation won't show the patience needed to make Nebraska football, Nebraska football again. Won't happen. (Get a load of the guy who thinks Keyshawn's kid will bring NU back?!?!) Nebraska chose to be just like everyone else. That's what we are now. The money will eventually dry up. Think Minnesota. Think Iowa.

But, as far as UCF and Frost are concerned, Coach Osborne is the key. If he says, stay away, which is what he told Frost last time asked, Frost will stay away. I don't know why that would change.

I believe UCF has 1-3 receivers on their roster better than Keyshawn junior and yes, I agree, Frost has a lot of respect for Osborne. That's not a good thing for
Frost going back to Nebraska any time soon.

That absolutely will not be a problem if he's successful. There's money here in boosters and through the university and there's only going to be more money. People didn't like GOL, so they were reluctant to open up their wallets.

Anybody who thinks a lack of money will stop us, they are kidding themselves.

Easy. I believe Frost is making $1.9M to start.

Just increase average attendance by 7,000 per game (42,000 per season) at an average of $25 each...boom...an extra $1.05 Million per year.

That would offset some of the debt service on the bonds. What we need is more TV money.
