Could it work? Just saw big @Mike_Lee post about Gus mentioning a couple years back he’d retire after 2025. With the rumors of sweeping staff changes it would certainly bring excitement and if there was a clear exit for Gus probably more enticing for Frost.
I’m not even a huge Frost guy but if he’s motivated, and it sounds like he is, I still think he can be successful here.
Maybe his demons would have caught up to him anyways - but how different would his coaching trajectory be if the 2017 UCF team could have followed him to Nebraska like coaches can have now? You’re looking at a much more competitive 2018 and 2019 at the very least from him.
I think it’s about the only hire we can make that doesn’t have most of the fanbase rolling their eyes at Gus blowing up his staff again.
