Frost Contract

Thanks!! I was looklng for this. Syracuse was offering 1.2 million. He only was making about $400,000. Nice little raise. I would have thought an Oregon OC would be making more than that.

Looks like we're spending some money and I'm sure 2.3 million is an upgrade.

Nice to see the university is committed to football. Very smart move!

Buy those tickets to pay for all of this and more!

I heard the buyout is $850,000 if he leaves for another school early. Half a year's compensation. Wouldn't be much of a deterrent for a P5 school if they were to want him (which means he probably restored UCF to great heights - win, win).

What do you think is the reason the buyout is so ridiculously low??

I'm really not sure considering the kind of buyout the Gators had to pay to get McElwain away from Colorado St. - a G5 school. I figured it would be at least in the multi-million dollar range.

Here's where I saw it:

No state taxes either. He has to work until August in New York before he can keep his own money. 39.9% federal tax, property tax, sales tax, state tax, etc

I would think the negotiation went something like "we're going to offer 1.7 million" and frost said "either the buyout is low or the salary goes up". I think it's a steal at $1.7 mil if Herman really signs his deal at Houston for $3 mil

That $2.3 million for staff is huge. Frost was making $400,000 at Oregon as OC. So we can probably get a good OC and DC for $300,000 each. That leaves a lot of money for the other coaches!

My guess? Already hedging he leaves for P5 in 3 years. Probably wouldn't take the job if the buyout was high.

Sounds all like a win-win situation. We get a great coach relatively cheap. High initial buyout so he doesn't bolt quickly and lots of money for assistants

In addition, he has a decent salary, big raise and low taxes.

"I just hope that he stays at least 3 years."

LOL. Someone save the quote for future smack talk and the miscellaneous "Apology to firm_bizzle" threads. Thanks. LOL...
