FSU playing a conference game at SMU

It's kind of crazy they are in the ACC. I know years ago before the death penalty they were kind of big time, but still . Ya know, smoo in the ACC?

Really crazy to see SMU in ACC, but damn smart to buy their way in. They don't get a penny for what 5 years?

Not left behind tho.
not they're getting a lot more money than they would in the AAC (20-25m). they're not getting ESPN money, but they're getting ACCN, CFP, NCAAT share, etc.

Then it was a hell of a good deal for them. And to think many laughed at them for doing it. They may be the much lesser brother in the group, but they're in the group, and it would be hilarious if they're competitive almost immediately.

Imagine if either Oklahoma or Texas had to come to UCF in 2024. We're the only new 2023 Big XII program that did NOT get one at home.

Probably got the last life boat out…paid for like Billy Zane character in Titanic! This new world is all about perception, and even though they are trash with a trash fan base, they have money and bought in to the “P4” while it is still a P4. The media, the common unknowledgeable fan casually watching ESPN or casually reading ESPN articles don’t know any better. I’ve even seen clips of ESPN pundits saying “well SMU is a Power 4 team now…”. The whole thing is a ESPN propaganda joke, but good on them buying their way on the last life boat.

SMU is likable. I don’t really think they had any asshole fans at the games I went to. I hope they winnACC first year.

Eh, probably as soon as FSU can sue their way out of the acc, them Clemson North Carolina and Notre dame get divvied up amongst the sec and b1g and it’s just two conferences. Seems the sec and b1g alliance is for that purpose.
