Everyone got to play, including the walk ons. Called off the dogs with 8 minutes to play. Starting line up made almost all their shots. Kacey Wilson had a block from out of nowhere, and Spurlock had a couple more. Clanton made a pro-level drive with a mid-air pass off fake that left the crowd speechless. Days and Spurlock got the outside shots back, too.

Another double-double for Keith who re-entered the game with Sykes to pass up a dunk -- instead he threw it off the backboard for Sykes to jam in. Karell showed off his raw talent right afterward with some hustle plays at both ends of the court.

In the fan shoot out, a young woman made all her shots until bouncing it high off the iron on her final half-court attempt. The late arriving students got into it, spurring on the Knights and rattling the opponent free throws.

Man, I know I need to take these games with a grain of salt but this would be one hell of a team. It really sucks that this team, of all the teams that I have followed at UCF (since 2009), had to have a postseason ban put on it. This is first true BIG 3 that has been here at UCF since I have been here with Sykes, Clanton, and Spurlock who all should combine for 45 pts a night over the course of the season. Kasey Wilson is a jack of all trades type player who really gets this team going and Rod Days is that sniper from 3pt land that we were missing last year. Can't wait to get the whole gang back together when Newell and Williams are able to play again sometime soon. This team is going to cause a living hell for other teams because of their length (No one in the current starting lineup is shorter than 6'5").

But those were pretty much known quantities, why this particular game mattered is because of the bench and FR players that will get to see extended time that may lead to role spots during the grind of the season. And for the most part, of all the freshmen that played in this game, I liked what I saw. The only exception was Coons who would try to make the right play, but would almost psych himself out of it and the ball would end up going the other way. I don't really see him getting any PT this season unless there are more blowouts ahead. Other than that, Karrell was awesome defensively, as was Blair, and Walker was a great play maker in the offensive end.

He rather reminds me of Taylor Young in his freshman year. Hopefully, he works hard and follows in Taylors' footsteps.
