Last night my dad had a stroke. Just as they were getting ready to give him the 10,000 dollar clot medicine the doctor came in and said they had to wait because his BAC was .348. I immediately went across the street to the bar he goes to ans they told me he had only had 4 drinks. So either his body has lost the ability to process alcohol or he was closet drinking earlier in the day, but either way I hope it didn't cost him brain function because they had to wait for him to sober up.

72. Found out a little bit ago that's he's had a bladder infection for over 3 weeks. Well no crap dad! Your body is already toxic and you're putting alcohol on top of it. I'm amazed he's been doing as well as he has.

The body is resilient. My dad is 73 and smoked like a chimney for 55 years. Seems to be doing ok.

Well, this bout will stop the drinking for a few days. He'll need a new diversion when he gets out. Got anything for him to do?

He doesn't drink that much anymore, but he's gonna have to shut it off completely until they can figure out how to deal with the recurring bladder infections. He's gonna get a royal ass chewing this evening when I go to pick him up. You can't just not take an antibiotic when you have a bladder infection.

Sorry to hear. My father is 71 and he's never done anything like that. I think I've seen him drunk only twice, both times when the in-laws were down when I was a teenager.
