Georgia Tech Game Cancelled

From our website: "Fans with tickets to the Georgia Tech game, including season ticket holders, can contact UCF Athletics at 407.823.1000 for information about attending a different game this season." Tickets for an away game? Are they paying for flights and hotel as well?

They need to prorate refunds. They need to do this in good faith to not piss off fans more.

Don't give me an away game ticket without anything else. It's not like I live in Cincinnati. Also I don't want crap UCF away game seats in nosebleed sections

This season is going right down the toilet, and we're 1-0.

Now that we've already lost 2 games to weather, will we be bowl eligible?

Completely agree!!!!

This season has just become a giant let down. We wait all season for football and because of a little wind and some "logistical problems", 20% of our season is GONE. This is America. Get your shit together and play the ****ing games!!!

2 freaking games for one hurricane that we knew about a week in advance and wasn't even a direct hit!
One game Ok. 2 games is inexcusable! We should have played Memphis. It's more BS now than ever!

Come on Danny White. You're getting paid a half million a year plus. Earn that salary and work some magic. Major financial hit.

If we have a 10 game season, UCF has to appeal to the NCAAs regarding the bowl game requirement.

A better idea is to just win at least five of our remaining nine games! :sunglasses:

But yes, I remember the NCAA making special exemptions for similar circumstances in the past.

Huge letdown to have this game cancelled. I wish they would at least have the games rescheduled, I don't know how they can have us play 10 games.

A legit p5 w taken away. All I gotta say is we better beat the shit out of a mediocre Maryland team since we will be very very very well rested and have 2 weeks to prep. Nonetheless, FIU has displayed much better organization as they are playing games as we are zzzzzzzzz.

You're right! We need to kick the crap out of them. Maryland has almost no film on us. We must be ansy to play football.

Now., I'm so glad that I booked this away game? I'll have to reconsider more if we don't reschedule 1 of our lost games

Houston and UCF have the same bye week. Houston also lost a game due to a hurricane, but their opponent was ooc.

Are you suggesting we schedule a game against Houston ad hoc? Has that ever been done before? And if so, should Houston host since they had more damage or UCF since our city is still in tact.

Which brings me to my main question... why aren't we playing GT at home???

According to the UCF press release, the national guard is using our campus for their 1000 soldiers and 250 vehicles. They also mentioned UCF released the players for the Hurricane (what that means you decide).

No idea how the Houston logistics will work. Just thought it was an interesting scenario!

This is what happens when you run around like Chicken Little. Just a little thought, and self protection, could have kept the players together and evacuated as a team. There are probably thousands of south Florida kids attending university out of state and you damn well would have called them stupid if you released them to go back home. Yes the kids would have worried if they thought their family was too stupid to evacuate or go to the many, many shelters. But tons left south Florida, and further up the coast. The damn team should have joined Mumphis on the flight or followed a bit later. I don't doubt there'd be some Uni. that would have housed them for a few days. As for using the stadium- You mean to tell me there is not one open space on the university as large as a football field? or maybe the practice field, baseball field, some other open area? Or has the university used every spare inch of ground? I haven't been there in decades so maybe they have. What a shame there isn't some football field in the middle of Orlando that could be used. Maybe we could call it the World of Camping or Citrus Bowl or something like that.

Why not cancel the entire season?

It's looking doubtful for our game against Illinois on Friday, too. Their AD has offered to host the game but that sucks to miss a home game and an away game, albeit not as bad as UCF's predicament.

USF, who took a direct hit from Irma, confirmed their game is on for Friday. I'm a big believer in our athletic department but this feels like it was totally mishandled.

USF was on the back side of the storm. They did not take a direct hit. God forgive them for letting players go home and help their familys through the storm, and they really need to be dumped on for letting first responders use campus as staging ground.

I would have played the game this Saturday. I lived through Andrew in South Dade. Had Canes season tickets. It was such a relief to go to the first home game after the storm - just to be normal for a while. They opened the game to all National Guard and first responders. There were lots of tears in the stands during the pregame when they presented the colors. Not ashamed to say that included mine. We were all united for a while for the team and in the much larger sense of community.

Not knocking them for letting players go be with their families but to be honest most of Florida wasn't hit too badly. Good on UCF letting first responders use campus as a staging ground but there were plenty of other options. We could have traded the home and home with GT, we could have played in camping world or the national guard could have used camping world. Also I doubt Scott would have asked UF to voulenteer their stadium if it meant them losing a home game.

Scott. Isn't there a minor league baseball field, a soccer stadium and fairgrounds in and around Orlando? Not sure why it has to be UCF athletic fields. But whatever , UCF will see the effects this will have in coming weeks. When every game has 30K people in stands because there are things more important than football. Giving people a reason to find something else to do during football season is not a good way to grow your brand.

Whoops, yeah I meant Scott. If we lose to Maryland I wouldn't be surprised if the Maine game has sub 25K people in the stands. Really hope Danny White works his magic and schedules us another game. I'll take a home game against a conference opponent. Hell I'll even take an away game against a P5 at this point.

Yes away game against a name opponent is at least a game we want to watch. im not all that optimistic it will happen though. Teams that are on byes won't want to or may not be allowed to add a game mid season.
