Never was really a SMU fan but am pulling for them to upset everyone and win the NC. Odds are against them but HELLALUAH BAMA DID NOT GET IN.

Also, pulling for conference mate Arizona State. Picked last in conference in preseason media poll.

Being a long time UCF fan I've always loved a great underdog story. A-State and SMU are it for this year.

The only 3 loss team that made it into the Playoffs won their conference to get in. (Clemson beating SMU).

Why Bama was even allowed to be mentioned and NOT playing in their conference champ game is not "The Criteria" Mr Not-so-Fast-Finebaum.

Thank the football gawds (The CFP for now) for ejecting that philosophy that the SEC is all and mighty powerful and BAMA is granted heredity rights in every playoff.

This is how Bama 'won' the 2017 NC *Asterisk*. Back in 2017, Bama didn't even win their side of their conference division. Then was allowed a full month of rest before they had to play again and watched Georgia & Auburn battle it out in the SEC championship. Thus, this is one reason why I'm proud UCF claims a partial 2017 National Championship as back then there was even more of a SEC biased in selection of the human polls.

Glad UCF is a part of the College Football History era which allowed changes to be made afterwards. Allowing first non-power school Cinci to get in CFP. And, then going to a 12 team format.

I'm sure with the rehire of Scott Frost people are looking back at 2017 season. If you are new or old to this debate, join in.

Just checking the bracket. Highly unlikely as both SMU and Arizona State will be underdogs but what happens to the SEC blow hards if both SMU and A-State win out and play for the National Championship game?

SMU over Boise St. No allegiance to Boise, and we've been side-by-sides with SMU from C-USA to AAC and I hope they go far. Big XII all the way, if not SMU. Still spent a ton of times sub-P5/4 that I've got to pull for the new guy on the block. PS ABSOLUTELY LOVE the Alabama whining.

Yeah I almost put SMU over Boise because of our previous conference affiliations. I've always been a fan of Boise from afar. They've been knocking on the door for a long time now. Similar to Gonzaga in basketball. Would be nice to see them win a national championship as the lil guy. Especially from freaking Idaho.

Vandy also struggled to beat one of the MAC's worst teams, Ball State, winning 24-14. The Cardinals went 3-9 this season.

The computers don't lie ... the Big XII and SEC have no creampuffs, the Big 10 has their share, and the ACC is half'n half.

Reece Davis and all the SEC/Big 10 guys whining about how the bracket is set up and calling for immediate change cause how dare Boise St or SMU get a bye for winning their conference. Or Arizona St for that matter. Are you serious? I love the setup! So hope these 3 play well and make runs so they shut all those guys up. All they want is less inclusivity cause their teams are the top brands and they don’t want to see other schools on their level. Bama lost to a bad Oklahoma team and Ohio St lost to an average Michigan team. Boise barely lost to the freaking number 1 team in the country on the road.

Commitee nailed it on the bye for ASU given the sheer SoS of the Big XII.

Clemson and SMU being the last adds is accurate, given the SoS in the ACC is junk. Half the conference are creampuffs, and it's really no better than the AAC in the later half of the '10s.

The CFP committee ranked Arizona St (10-2) and Iowa St (10-2) 15 and 16 at the end of the regular season. That’s ridiculous in my opinion. If you go back and look at the rankings in the CFP era, after the regular season, they never ranked the top Big 12 teams that low if they had 2 or fewer losses. Most of the time they would be in the 7-10 range.
